this is an attempt to show the hdr nature of what I am doing. basically like in real life, changing exposure will show the detail of the reflection in lower exposures while blowing it out in higher exposures. if it was not hdr, reducing the exposure on a blown out pic would just make the white dimmer, because the detail isn't actually there https://thumbs.gfycat.com/PleasedDependableGalah.webp

I watched a bunch of Blender Guru videos on Youtube to help learn the interface which is really the biggest hurdle to using the software. Once you get the umpteen-million hotkeys memorized it's much easier to use. I'm decent at lighting because I used to gently caress with POVRay. Lighting was a nightmare in that - this drag and point poo poo is easy a balls comparatively. Also - always use the Principled BSDF shader.

I haven't fully committed myself to the principled shader. idk why. the node looks unfinished. blender guru is quite good, that aussie guy huh? mate ya work is inspirational. one day I might do something thats not the same old poo poo I always do https://gfycat.com/madadoredcaimanlizard  a big part of it is that im depressed as gently caress and only feel inspiration for the shortest periods of time and prpompty give up quickly
