This Friday my punk band Astmatisk Gapskratt released our debut album, 1 1/2 years after the first single/music video that I posted about back then. https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3802340

We've already received some really strong reviews for it, better than we really dared to hope for.

We didn't have a music video ready for the release, but one of our recent concerts was filmed by the guy who directed our last video, so we got some footage we could edit into a "sorta music video" to upload to Facebook for the announcement.

Here is the full album on Spotify (It's also released on vinyl):

So yeah, we are still singing in a Norwegian dialect that is probably hard for most Norwegians to understand as well. Here are the main lyrical themes:
  • Berømte siste ord - "Famous Last Words". About promising to never be that drunk again, and failing badly.
  • Schtøggen - "The Ugly One". About body image, pressure and social exclusion, presented as a silly upbeat tune.
  • Ting - "Things". About materialism.
  • Tits Machine - "Time machine" The title is a silly pun, as it's pronounced exactly like the Norwegian word "tidsmaskin". About how much more fun gigs were back in pre-smartphone days, and that great bands can take you back there and make you dance like an idiot instead of livestreaming and instagramming the gig.
  • To - "Two/second" - About social exclusion and always being "outside".
  • Rettepenn - "Red grading pen" Maybe the silliest lyrics on the album. Three of the members are teachers, and this is a kinda ironic song about being a teacher and getting a hard time both with bored and uninterested students in the first verse and with government and politicians slashing budgets and making life hell for teachers in the second. The reason I say it's ironic is because I know the bass player (who wrote the song) is a really good and empathic teacher who cares a great deal about his students. Also, the lyrics are really tongue-in-cheek.
  • Ung og Radikal - "Young and Radical" About being told all through your youth that it's cute that you are so radical and it's only a phase everyone goes through (As in: "If you're not a socialist in your youth you have no heart, if you're not conservative as an adult you have no brain" etc.) but in reality just becoming more and more certain about your youthful beliefs
  • Ein - "One" One of the oldest songs on the album, this is ALSO a song about drinking more than you were planning to do, like the album opener.
  • Bli Du Ailler Sliten Av Å Spring Fra Probleman Din - "Don't you ever get tired/winded from running away from your problems" I think the title says it all.
  • Klæbb - "Fuckup" - About social anxiety and struggling with negative thoughts you can't control.
  • 1 rom, 1 PC, 1 seng - "a room, a computer, a bed" A song about mental illness and being stuck in a meaningless, empty, repetitive existence because of them.
  • Reis Dæ Opp! - "Rise back up!" About overcoming adversity and keep on fighting, always telling yourself to get back up every time life deals you a crushing blow.
  • Ekkokammer Katzenjammer - "Echochamber Katzenjammer" About how every debate nowadays is filled with echo chambers where people rile each other up, demonize the opponents and "go to war" with any means necessary.

Hope you like it, goons!

If you’re in Europe I can ship you one myself or you could order from our Swedish distributor.

Otherwise, if you live in the US it’s probably better cost-wise if you wait until we get a box of them shipped over to a stateside international store.

I just got a pack of them shipped overseas, so if you're in the Americas I've got you covered my man (/woman/porpoise).
