GW held an AoS open day today with some new models being shown off, like the new Black Coach.

And the full sequitors kit among other things.

Not so much AoS news out of Warhammer Fest Europe, so far, but still something interesting.

I guess neither guess was true because the charging bull is for the Beastmen battletome.

Speaking of old factions did they ever explain why they took the Tomb Kings out behind the shed? I know they still have rules but I recently got back in and last time i was playing they were still a full faction

Lack of sales I believe but I heard one rumor going around for a while that they were simply forgotten about when AoS was developed or similar. But I find that somewhat hard to believe.

After they got told to gently caress off wrt trademarking "man in space armor", I imagine they figured that trying to trademark Ancient Egypt was a little too ambitious

Then there was also the Chapter House lawsuit that was sorta the whole beginning of what was to come next with naming. Well and models and rules too I suppose.

Anyone have recommendations for companies that do good historical head swaps in 28mm?

I’m really not feeling the stormcast deathmask and looking for options.

You technically don't have to look further than the Free Company units for Stormcast headswaps or helmets.

But otherwise check
https://puppetswar.eu/category.php?id_category=197
http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/ - For female heads
https://maxmini.eu/conversion-bits/head-swaps
https://www.shapeways.com/shops/aurel-1 - Cool but rather expensive
The majority of these are for 40k but some might work for AoS as well.

Ordered a cheap box of plastic hoplites from Warlord for stormcast head and shield swaps. Will post some results in here if they come out any good, I'm a little bit doubtful due to them being close to true 28mm whereas stormcast push the boundaries for a 32mm, but worth a shot!

Otherwise Puppetwar has these:
https://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=89
but they might be too Sci-fi though to fit what you might have in mind. But otherwise I think there is at least some other heroic 28mm greek helmet manufacturer out there.

Yeah, as you said a bit too sci-fi. Scibor do some really nice helmets and shields but seem pretty expensive imo, I think it was going to cost me like 60 euro for 30 heads and shields.

Ouch, I admit that's a bit hefty.

There has, or will, come out a book about a Darkroath Warrior Queen as well under BLs novel series they announced earlier this year.
One of those books I also believe features a female elven pirate.

There is also the Genevieve omnibus but it might not jive with everyone with the titular vampire looking eternally like a 16 year old even if I think one of the books is going to be reprinted under the Warhammer Horror label.

Then there is always the book about Warhammer Fantasy Neferata:

Speaking of first completed models of 2019 I put the finishing touches on this Stormcast Sequitor last night. Finished in around four or five hours over like three days of painting sessions. Claims of those being easy to build is a lie however as I had to fill a large gap on the side and just straight up cut off the pegs in order to make things fit.
Either way 2019 is off to a great start in my case in terms of hobby progress.

LOL at the people on GW's Facebook who are like 'Finally, we can make female Space Marines'. As if Statuesque and other suppliers haven't produced heads in the right scale for years...

The female stormcast heads do work rather well though for it. I can attest to that. Even if I did shave off a bunch at the bottom to make the head fit in lower onto the torso.
Although I don't think I'd really want to build a whole army with those heads. At some point the cost would spiral out a bit.

To be fair, having an official means to do it would allow for people to use lady Marines at WHW and at GW ran tournies without pissy TOs raising a stink about 3rd party bits.

Would also got an excellent way to do female Knight Pilots. Which is a thing I want to do with the Canis Rex model but the chance of buying it stand alone from a bits store has managed to slip from my grasp.

I mean if this lets me play a Seraphon right out the box since they're part of the forces of Order I'm game but at the same time I'm pretty sure that won't be the case.
Otherwise it almost sounds like the usual WHFRPG faire.

Another project I managed to finish in two days. Kinda proud how I managed to get the eyes mostly right. Also it turns out both my Flayed One Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh end up looking really chalky so the skin didn't end up looking as pale as I wanted it to. Turns out a 2 to 1 ratio of Flayed One/Kislev FLesh ratio didn't help making it that much paler either.
Also if I ever paint another one of those I'm leaving the hair until last because of how it curls in front of the leg.

Spawning Pool doesn't really fit in with their current lore of being dreams/imagination/whatever realised as flesh though does it? Like the bit in their Battletome where the dude appears in a blaze of light like the rest of his fellow scaly star beings.

That got changed in Malign Portents as I recall. There was a short story involving the Seraphon that made mention of spawning pools.
https://malignportents.com/story/dying-star/

quote:

The skink trembled as he entered the spawning chamber. A circular path skirted the edge of a great lake, its dark waters placid and shimmering. Great golden wheels were built into the walls, marked with hieroglyphs and sacred wards, and the ceiling was open to the heavens. Blessed starlight rippled across the gestation pool. On all sides, helmed guards stood vigilant, their spears and clubs held in steady claws. They did not move a muscle as Maq’uat passed by them on his way to a raised dais at the far end of the chamber.

Except Free Guild make up all the normal humans in the setting and Seraphon has their old army book still (and is rumoured to getting a new one soon) so it's not much of begrudging support in this case.
GW has said they are going to release new army books so Free Guilds will probably get one down the line with increased support. When that will happen though, who knows at the moment.
