Does anyone else have the problem that New Romulus level scales to 50 after you complete that one mission in the warehouse, or is this a feature? It currently makes it challenging for my main (lvl 30 starfleet) to get forward with the episodes. I really, really hope they do not expect me to grind fleet battles and PvE random events for 20 levels so that I can forward the plot again.

I hope it was a bug or something, I'll try again tomorrow. The random critters two-shotted me and my security officer again and again, and I have level-appropriate items on both of us, and the earlier scaled maps and group PvE hasn't given me any lip before.

Anyway, I went away and did some other stuff on my quest list and a couple of patrols to tip over the lvl30 threshold. So now I am running the galaxy-class as an engineer.

I wouldn't know, I haven't leveled a char through story missions in years. If it keeps being weird, feel free to skip all the new rom missions and come back to them later.

I got it to work but the New Romulus season is incredibly janky compared to the earlier ones; the neutral romulans on the map are as flagged enemies, and will aggro at you if you accidentally use area effect weapons too close to them since some animal are hostile.

Everyone on the planet also keeps telling you that "you do not have access rights to this area" because it refers to some reputation system that has been taken out. Similarly, the place is full of items, characters and collectable points of interest which I think are remnants from that reputation grind. As far as I know, they no longer do anything but the game keeps referencing to a mechanic that simply no longer exists.

Additionally, all missions give piddly amount of XP (some hundreds), and you actually need to play every instance 2-3 time in a row so that all of the scripts fire at least once.

Sitrep from soloing the campaign: Cryptic might want to hire a person to do QA on their season mission difficulty spikes. I had to skip the latter part of the Delta Quadrant missions because for some reason the difficulty curved straight up between two missions, and decided that now even the smallest Vaadwaur vessels have 150k+ hitpoints, big ones 180+ or more.

I am currently on lvl 62 and my Tactical escort retrofit with dual plasma cannons, turrets and 4 plasma infusers (totals to 3.3k DPS) can barely put a dent on them going "full weapons", while being basically randomly oneshotted by that large artillery ship.

The start of the Iconian war season has not given me much of a problem, at least yet.

Der Kyhe
Jun 25, 2008

Thanks for the info! I'll look into getting upgrades and making a better build than "all plasma weapons and all tactical +plasma damage consoles", and finish the delta rising later.

And no, I have nothing from the zen store or promotional unlocks, I am not even on a fleet yet. I just started few weeks ago because I was looking for a modern take on the Starfleet command and I also didn't mind the WoW-style ground stuff, although I never really got into Wow after taking one paladin to lvl60 and trying out the horde when the first expansion was released.

EDIT: Now that my Starfleet main is lvl 65 and I am mostly just playing the story missions, doing dailies for event, Fleet, Discovery and Omega rep, I was thinking about making a Klingon/Red team alt. Any suggestions on what would be most interesting? My main is bog-standard TNG-human-starfleet and I just finished the Iconian storyline so there is still several to do.

Or suggestions what reps are better ones to farm? I got into some generic public fleet to see what that is all about and they want 200k fleet marks before you get access to the stores. I am currently sitting in about 100k with them but it mostly looks like a museum fleet from the more active times. They do have some activity and events, though.

Something's up, the Zen purchase tool switched from Steam integration to their own online store, and nothing is on sale at the store anymore.

Usually this is a sign that the game developer no longer can afford Steam sales commissions, or transaction processing times, and needs cash fast.

I was just about to bite the bullet and buy my first T6 by getting the Recon ship set 1 for 4k zen but now I am going to wait and see what's what.

I also noticed that the mirror universe package was on sale for 2700 zen for a few days, but goddamn if the 3-nacelle Galaxy isn't fugly so I passed on that. And it would not have given me a ship for the "red team" run I am planning to do after I run out of campaign missions for the Starfleet.

I launch the launcher via Steam but haven't checked it in detail. Earlier it always threw me into my steam wallet; I just found it weird that today it started to want me to verify my ARC account and redirecred me to the webstore constantly. And yes, I allowed the account integration since I have so far only one character and the only thing I have bought was enough Zen to get my T5 the T5-U upgrade.

Next thing I am about to get is the EC limit thingy, so that I can get the Fleet something something modules from the Exchange. My dill farming work and leftovers are about to hit 500 zen in few days, and I think that is the best use for the leftovers. But at the same time I thought that I might as well but the first T6:s, since the game is free to play and I more or less treat it like Starfleet command 4, for which I would have paid full retail price so I am still ~60 Eur "under the budget".

Der Kyhe

So today I bit the bullet and bough Yamato-class since I wanted A) T6 hull, B) go back to caribean booze cruisers from escorts and C) wanted something with a hangar to play around with fighters. Its still the stupid 3-nacelle galaxy but at least it looks nicer than the Terran empire-one and with few edits it looks acceptable as "galaxy with a sort of flight deck" in my mind. Since I used my earlier leftovers to unlock 2B EC limit, my next thing is the experimental ship unlock token from Exchange.

Like said earlier, I was also looking for the recon 1 bundle to get another ship for my red team-alt, but decided against taking lafayette since it looks like science/tactical and if I understood correctly it plays like escort since it is a destroyer and can equip dual cannons?

So my actual question is, what should I watch out for, for the next ship bundle T6 if they ever go to sale? The next one needs to be a crossfaction or team red (preferably crossfaction) since I want to also do the red-team run, with tactical captain since my main is an engineer.

This might be a bit stupid question since I have already dropped something like 200h into the game during the last three months after I started, but what *can* you do with the EC, especially to avoid spending zen on getting stuff?

With zen, I have bought some stuff like 12 item account-wide bank, my first T6 for my main, and "unlimited" account EC.

EDIT: Also, is there a consensus on carriers, is it better to have more fighters, or better ones? I lucked into an epic phoenix token and got a full carrier since I did not have one, but that has only 2 frigates per hangar. Those carry something like 4 weapons per ship so they in theory are better, but I do not feel they are that good especially against a swarm of 12 small ships since the AI isn't that great.

How one can acquire the pizza slicer Enterprise-J? Its stupid enough that I might want to go for one for my temporal agent as my endgame to end all endgames.

I have been running that alt with the Yamato I bough earlier as my first account T6, and it seems that he is overtaking my "main" soonish because of the stupidly good bonuses and dreadnought cruiser is actually much more fun to play than a full carrier I lucked into with Phoenix boxes when farming upgrade kits.

The leftovers from the 20-pack I spent on infinity boxes and got enough lobi to grab that one. So I am not buying it tommorrow, but maybe down the line.

How do you get rid those green Borg warts that Franklin Drakes installs to your ship in the Spectres? They did not disappear after I completed that story arc.

I tried resetting visuals, switching ship and redesigning it but no, they cling on to my ship regardless. The starbase engineer also says that my ship is intact, so they aren't fixable condition either.

EDIT: Nevermind, found it. It was a trait I just needed to turn off. I didn't even know this game had consumable/one-time use traits like that.

It is something called "we have adapted" and it gives -100% radiation damage, probably related to mostly and only to the last mission of the Spectres where you travel back to destoy that asteroid.

I am starting to get the feeling that these "Galaxy at large" or more likely "have not been debugged or tested in 8+ years" missions are a mixbag of surprises. And cheap bootleg version of Dr. McCoy.

Since it is double XP week, sleepwalking through the episodes until you hit 52 to unlock admirality might not be the fastest, but at least less painful way to get to the T5/XII stuff and better. I am doing that for my Romulan alt.

Just switch to your T6 immediately out of tutorial and keep dropping whatever the episodes give you into the equipment slots. Or grab some green tact. consoles and guns from Exchange to boost damage output and make all episode stuff trivial.

...And skip through all small craft missions and the entire New Romulus arc.

Der Kyhe

Also if you can stomach some episode grinding
-"Beyond the Nexus" gives you a rather nice omnibeam+console+torpedo set, especially if you are into phasers, and
-"Temporal Front" gives the best ground shield. Also get the set armor because it is better than what you probably at that point have, and also the gun so that you can keep the 2-item extra ability once you find a better armor, or buy the Burnham CQC armor from Disco reputation. The gun is a lovely shotgun, but if you slot it to 2nd weapon slot the absolutely fantastic +critical chance from the set still works.

I am considering on maybe getting one 1000+ ZEN just to get by buy-off for the season lockbox for prestige T6, since I joined midway and need at least that one 700 season credit buy-off to get my pizza slizer.

But then again, I ask myself, "why"? I already got Yamato earlier, and have specced it with my timecop to do ~100k DPS. It is not like there is any content that needs the Enterprise-J stuff. So that would go only towards keeping this "Star Fleet Command 4" afloat.

Just downloaded this, and I've never touched it before. The wiki links in the OP don't work, is there a good "do this poo poo when you start" summary anywhere? And is the info in the OP still good?

OP stuff is still good; start with any faction you like the most, but you probably should take tactical as the first captain since it is the most straight-forward ground play, and fly a cruiser since it is the same for the space pew-pew.

Start to worry about long-play-stuff, fleet gear or the reputation gear earliest when you hit lvl 61 and get your first T5 ship that can be made end-game useful with a relatively expensive T5-U upgrade. Until that, level up by doing the story missions, and every once in a while PvE. But press the skip on all of the "new romulus" missions (it used to be a grindy PvE area and now its just ...gimped waste of time), and on all missions that use shuttles (they are really miserable and/or boring), there is no penalty on skipping a story mission/episode. Also, do not worry about gear before you hit the XII-tier of gear: just replace your worst stuff with the stuff the missions give you.

EDIT: Just remember; there is no need to buy anything with ZEN to experience any of the game content. You get raw dilithium that you can refine into the secondary premium currency 8k/day, and barring lockbox content (ships, costumes, some gear and abilities) everything can be done with the stuff you get.
