So, that's basically two free Fleet T6 ships worth of modules, right?

I'm starting to get the Fleet Modules from the rep grind. Since fleet ships don't give traits, what ones should I check out? I'm thinking one two-hangar carrier, and an escort that's an improvement on my Nicor if there is one.

Is the ship itself worth keeping, are there better raiders for a Federation character?

It's not junk and being an escort it doesn't have gimped raider hull. Plus if you like flying escorts then open it and if nothing else use the experimental heavy weapon on all your others.

Or sell it if that doesn't interest you, I guess.

Opened mine.

I just noticed that it was priced pretty high on the exchange still (so I could maybe sell it and buy a diff cheaper T6), but no idea if any are actually moving on the Exchange

Feed them to the reputation grind https://sto.gamepedia.com/Reputation_System/Rewards

This will unlock nice things like traits, ground gear, space gear, special repuation specific shops and some vanity shields. Some of this gear is excellent. All costs a mix of marks, dilithium and some other crap.

The grind to get everything is vast now because it originally started with only 2 reputation grinds and they kept adding 1-2 per year until we got this current conglomerate. You'll do them all eventually but don't feel under pressure.

The most important ones for new players are borg (module + 360 beam), Iconian (deflector, shield, core), and wargames (engine), right? Those are all generally useful gear that can slot into any build

4 tactical consoles on an escort used to be okay but since they made Lorca's murderbox a tactical instead of a universal it's a bit of a bummer now.

Is the torp/console pair for that worth using? Right now I just use a wide-angle torp, not one that's part of a set.

STO treats ALMOST everything as inventory items in hidden 'bags', and for some dumb reason a lot of things have to go into your inventory and then be autoused to work.

Yep, but I can't use it because I already have the title. Dialog boxes pops up saying "Not Allowed: You cannot equip that item."

Free poo poo from the fleet bank, mostly. Everything else is endgame gear.

The new TFO is pretty fun. Flying it in a pilot escort felt a bit like playing Rogue Squadron.

I'm pretty sure that STO is just going to be its own continuity pretty soon, especially with discrepancies with ST:P. Alternately, when STO finally gets shut down there's an All Good Things mission where we undo everything our character did in order to sync things up with the Prime timeline

A little late to respond, but I put the borg kinetic beam in one of the rear slots for all my ships, because it and the assimilated module with their 2-piece bonus give boosts that are always useful.

Playing Hot-Cold to find hidden artifacts seems like the most convenient way to get the daily tokens for the ship, since it's pretty quick and can be done at any time. Most of the other stuff only starts at specific times. It's also right next to one of the site-to-site transport stops.

Nice, I thought the lobi sale would end before I could get the last three days of progress done but it looks like I'm good. I'll have about 1300 lobi, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to spend it. Right now, I mainly fly the charity Pilot Escort from a while ago and the Herald Vonph:

Does the JH Recon Ship get pilot maneuvers? If so, that looks like the best pilot ship around right now. Not sure what I'd spend the rest on.

The other ships that look interesting are the Temporal Destroyer, the Kelvin Intel Dread, maybe the Baltim if the pet version is good. I don't have any good Temporal-seated ships yet, and a more agile two-hangar carrier would be neat.

As far as I know, it doesn't have pilot maneuvers. I think people mostly buy it for the trait if they're running CRF builds. The temporal destroyer is pretty meh. The Kelvin Dreadnought is a great ship.

Generally it's recommended to buy ships off the exchange, and use lobi for bound stuff like the equipment. There's a great plasma space set in there, and a good ba'ul antiproton set. The altamid console is worth running even on non-plasma builds unless you're just overflowing with meta universal consoles. There's some fun ground costumes and weapons in there (like the borg frame that lets you turn your captain and boffs into borg). I think the Dsc phase full auto is still the highest DPS gun in the game. The Khannon isn't meta, but it is fun.

Thanks for the info! I'm doing pretty well on consoles I think, and I like the visuals for the "-linked" Phasers so I've mostly been using those. I'm not keen on grinding EC to buy a ship, so I'd rather get it with lobi. Maybe the way to go will be to get the Kelvin Dread, Altamid console, Borg frame, and a couple other pieces of equipment. For ground weapons I mostly stick to the First Contact shotgun.

Here's where my pilot escort is at:
