Josh Tillman, aka Father John Misty, is an American indie-rock artist and previous drummer for Fleet Foxes. He introduced the moniker Father John Misty with his 2012 album "Fear Fun" He's known for a conversational song-writing style and delving into political and personal subject matter with an air of detached irony.

I find his music very enjoyable though a lot will depend on whether you find his 'voice', and the personality it implies, insufferable. The heavy irony, cynicism, or even preachiness can get a bit draining, and his name itself refers to his religious upbringing and his early ambition to be a pastor.

One of his most political songs, "Things It Would Have Been Helpful to Know Before the Revolution": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIsT3dJ60Uk

One of his personal songs, "I Love You Honeybear": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khk77JHALmU

A catchy song off his new album, "God's Favorite Customer", "Hangout at the Gallows": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Kf2nd_EaHQ

Most of his albums are available on youtube from Subpop Records if you want to give them a try. Other people with more musical education can probably sum up his style better than I can.

I saw him live twice when he was touring for his first album. It was a very good time and he did an awesome cover of Happiness Is A Warm Gun.

Pure Comedy is unbearable but his first two albums are fuckin great.

God of Boomin'

I enjoy Honeybear but that is about all I can get into. I'll still give anything new he does a shot but nothing has clicked.

I like the horns and a lot of the music on Pure Comedy but he was getting very up on politics and evolution and while it never seems like he takes himself too seriously, it still comes off as pretentious. But I see that as part of the character.

The new album gets back to more personal and hard to figure out scenarios, similar to the first album.

Really liked his first two albums. Pure comedy was OK if a bit preachy.

My favorite song:
