Listening to Trash Future (great podcast) one of the hosts worked for a tv station in moscow, hearing him describe how the media and tech is used over there killed my ability to buy into the great russian threat narrative. The russian Intelligence apparatus can't even ban the telegram app.

I'd listen. it's probably the only way i could enjoy watch the West Wing. I watched 2 episodes of The Newsroom when it premiered and i was just quit because the premise was just so dumb.

It's funny, as much as i can't stand to listen to it now I think NPR, Freakanomics in particular, is what planted the seed of anti-capitalism in me. It's so weird they just give you all the tools for a socialist critique of capital but just back step at the end and pretends a free market with rational actors exists again.

It's true that abusers do try to minimize the extent of there ause with language like that, but it is still common in breakups to play up the worst qualities in your partner. Also it's rare for an abuser to tell their partner to leave or for them to end the relationship. I'm not saying the accusation isn't true, but if it is it's probably not going to be the typical controlling abuser narrative.

There was an episode of Citations Needed that basically broke down how Vox is fully funded by Bill Gates and it's basically a cheerleader to the gates foundation, including such articles as "Melinda Gates on why, despite everything, the world just keeps getting better". Vox is literally propaganda for global capital.

I think the problem is that the word racism incompasis so many diffrent things. Bigotry, systemic oppression, white supremacy, discrimination, slurs, profiling, stereotyping, tokenism, and cultural appropriation are all considered racism and every community interacts with these issues differently. The fact that a cop shooting an unarmed black kid and calling weed marijuana could be both described as the same thing is kinda insane.
