gently caress that. Clinton was endlessly smeared, the Republicans "won" the media war, and because people hate her for mysogynistic reasons, we should acquiesce?

Gillum is not hoping to get Republicans on his side. Clinton should be defended because most criticism of her is BULLSHIT

Uncle Wemus
Mar 4, 2004

The only people she's going to divide are purity testers like you. Gillum is a self-described democratic socialist and a black man running for governor in Florida, the GOP cannot possibly hate him more than they already did. Meanwhile, Hillary genuinely is popular with a lot of voters, especially the kinds of Democrats who didn't vote for Gillum in the primary.

Hillary helps raise some money for Gillum and reassures the old white Dems who are a little squirrelly about Gillum. Win-win.

They didnt coordinate before hand and bumbled around whining about an investigation that wont happen instead of passionately fighting and putting the screws to kav.

Name a single vote that he has cast that has been the deciding vote on a Republican measure passing. I'm waiting.

How is this so difficult? Do you people think that if Kavanaugh gets 50 votes + Pence, he only gets to be a trainee judge and cant vote on important things. He gets to be a judge either way, so this is about saying Manchin needs to throw his seat away for nothing.

The fact that every single bad faith poster who is confronted with this keeps handwaving that fact away by playing dumb and pretending that a vote against Kavanaugh won't hurt Manchin, shows they know theres no justification for the bullshit they say.

Here's a good bar. He votes when it matters. When his vote would change the outcome in any way, he'll vote on party lines. If not, it literally doesn't matter.

One more then I'll stop

See? You're already loving handwaving ot away because you can't stand by the position. Your only recourse being to play ignorant of the facts surrounding his election.

If you can't come out and say that Manchin losing his Senate seat to a Republican - both a direct reward for Republicans for their actions, and an assurance that the GOP will hold the Senate until 2020 - is worth making some stupid meaningless point that won't change anyone's mind, you're just saying the only acceptable time to do this is when there is no risk. So because Manchin sees the risk, by your own logic, he was right to do this.

If your only way to justify what you want him to do is to pretend theres no risk, you are acknowledging he is correct for avoiding that risk.

How many bills do they have to see killed and how many conservative judges do the have to see seated by democratic politicians to realize that if keep constantly catering to swing votes, you are essentially giving them an incentive to do that? That it's better to lose a chamber but instill fear of repercussions for disloyalty among your members than to keep always pandering to those disloyal.

2012 should be a lesson. At the time, all the very serious people were talking about how republicans would be irrelevant because a bunch of incumbents and "serious" candidates lost primaries to tea party clowns. So republican lost winnable seats because they nominated assholes like Todd Akin and Linda McMahon, and might have otherwise taken the senate in 2012. While that was bad short term for the republicans, in the long term it instilled the message that if you are not on board with the tea party lunacy you are going to lose your primary, and the party will be ok with that even if it means staying the minority in the short term.

How DARE you
