Ooh, this will be a treat, this is a good game to start off with, or it at least feels that way, even if the Pokemon selection is pretty small. Still, feel free to use anything you find, so long as you fight a lot of trainers and have a lot of healing items, you'll be just fine.

The 200% image looks much better, since you can also put two of them together if you want to convey a bit more.

Boosted experience when you're an unevolved Pokemon past your evolution level is only a mechanic in the newer games. All that applies now are exp curves, which are consistent through evolutions.

poo poo everyone's mentioned all the Pokemon coming up. Uh... Gen 1 didn't have Repels in the Pewter Mart, so Mt. Moon was awful as you had to just encounter stuff over and over and over and

Praise be Dome! Going in and out and up and down Mt. Moon is pretty crazy, especially since it seemed like you didn't have any Repels? That... definitely is the blind experience. Keep it up, since things will get more blind for you in the future, but make sure to explore everywhere, it can be a lot of fun.

I will be glad to forever leave it behind soon enough. Adding in the really meh movepools a lot of Pokemon have and the limited TM options, it's just a rough time if you want to use some cool new Pokemon, since a lot of them are pretty drat rubbish! Seyser is getting a nice team so far, at least there's plenty more mons to use.

Well guess you should get those tutor moves on Route 4. They're pretty strong and a good way to do damage to Misty! No one tell him

Black Robe posted:Ye-esss, but it's a lot harder in the earlier games. Especially ones where there's no good place for level grinding towards the end of the game. Later games you'll end up overlevelled without grinding at all, even if you deliberately handicap yourself, but the earlier ones weren't quite that easy. It's doable, but harder. Uh, no? As I've been showing with my LPs, Pokemon games before the physical/special split are super easy since you can beat trainers 20 levels higher than you if you have good coverage, good items and braindead AI. You do not need to grind at all in these games, just beat most or all of the trainers and you'll be at a perfectly good level. It's definitely hard to use certain Pokemon, sure, but that's because it took until Gen 4 for a lot of Pokemon to actually get coverage, or in some cases actual STAB that lines up with their stats. But make no mistake, early Pokemon games are very very easy.

The games are easy enough that you can spare slots for HMs. But don't bother with Flash since it's a one and done in the Kanto games.

Even ignoring the type effectiveness, if you train any Pokemon to 10+ levels higher than you're opponent, then you're definitely gonna have an easy time. If you really wanted to, you could just use Charizard for the rest of the game with little trouble. And at the same time, since you've caught so many Pokemon and are using a variety on your team, you can use them for added challenge, it's the wonder of the series, that you can make the games as easy or as hard as you want.

You... beat the slots? I didn't even know it was possible, I just hack in my coins like most people. You absolute madman.

Man this low level challenge is intense! Also, uh, do you not have Revives or any healing items or even... Fly?

You use the Move Deleter to get rid of those pesky HMs, especially Flash since you only ever need it for Rock Tunnel.

At least Koga didn't keep his team of 3 Venonat and a level 50 Venomoth, Yellow was weird like that. Anyway, so long as you have a few high level mons, you'll be just fine, feel free to keep using anything you want, but you will want to draw a line eventually where you don't add anything new to your roster.
