Problem description: I have a Microsoft Surface 2. Bought it refurbished a year ago, don't use it much. It used to work fine. The only browser on it, the only one permitted, is internet explorer. Recently, however, any website I go to, even google, has a certificate error. Sometimes I can click to go to that website anyway, which it does not recommend, but some websites (for instance Outlook) won't load at all. Others load poorly. I don't know Windows 8 well at all, but it looks like internet explorer is the only browser it will permit. Attempted fixes: I have tried to go into the settings and adjust the certificate settings (I cleared the 'check for certificate revocation boxes under advanced settings) and restarted, didn't work. Recent changes: Got a new router several months ago, that's about all I can think of. I think this has been doing this for longer, though. Operating system: It is a Microsoft Surface with Windows 8.1. This one. System specs: Microsoft Surface 2 model FBA_P6W-00001 Location: USA I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

It's the time and date on your surface set correctly? Also, checking for revoked certificates is a pretty important part of avoiding compromised/malicious websites.

Geemer posted:It's the time and date on your surface set correctly? I'll be goddamned. The date was apparently 11/9/2129. How that happened I have no idea. I fixed it and it seems to be working OK now. Thanks! I apparently never looked in the corner.
