I lost one of the bolts that keeps the core inside my muffler and it slowly vibrates out over the course of about a thousand miles, so instead I just pound it back into place with a mallet every so often

If the axle design is really that idiotic it seems like it would be reasonable to switch to a castellated nut and drill a hole for a cotter pin, or to safety wire it

Clips vs. rivets is the new "what oil is best" imo

I ran out of gas the other day too. Got on the road, had to switch to reserve just as I was leaving, but I was like naaaah I can make it, the combination of the distance and the kind of riding will work out. I know my bike. I was right, and I made it to where I needed to be just fine. I finished up, got back on, headed straight for a gas station, and ran out of fuel 5 minutes later, 3 blocks away from the gas station. I know my bike.

Lol my Hawk was the exact same. The PO must have cranked down the axle nut like a gorilla so it felt fine on the test ride. After a couple of months with the bike I was coming down out of the Sierra Nevada and it let loose and suddenly there was 40 degrees of slop between the sprocket and the wheel engagement. With help from a very friendly Patriot Guard rider passing the gas station I got the nut cranked down enough again to make the last hundred miles home. When I took it apart a few days later there was no sign of the cush rubbers whatsoever, just that same green powder.
