good thing none of the kiddos want to work with perl anymore, I'll just create another cgi service to inject some unnecessary templating features into this site *decides regexes are too loving complicated, bails out and listens to howard stern I may have actually seen this happen recently.

the website runs on a local server because of security(job security). the company is too cheap to pay for hosting when they have perfectly good out of warranty hardware that should be thrown away. hosts the company website on a desktop machine running windows small business server. the sysadmin has no idea how to actually update the website, can only reboot it and restart services, only the gal in marketing knows how to do that and she is on vacation. there are backups for the website but no one has ever done a test restore. the file server is not backed up because it would be too expensive. no patches have been installed for years because one time one patch caused a problem.

After sending him home without pay three times they decide to fire him. They pick a friday to do it, and the boss stays late to tell him. That same day he falls asleep AGAIN and instead of sending him home or firing him on the spot they let him close out his shift only to be let go at the end.

- built a large commerce website for an international company using node.js without knowing a shred of javascript - kept it going fine for a few years - big fuckup happens, website wont restart, hired a freelance dev in ukraine to fix it - things are working fine again, but learned enough to recognize the horror show of a codebase i've created. if anything goes wrong again with this pos i'm hosed. - quit for a job elsewhere - hoping the guy who took over my job doesn't hunt me down and kill me
