1A Intel is important and one shuttle is unlikely to be that big of an issue.

2C Sending a wing of fighters or bombers and a pair of ships just allows the enemy group to use both their anti-ship and anti-fighter weapons on targets that both weapons are effective against, and makes it easier for whatever fighters they may have to defend their group to overwhelm the wing we send, as so far as I'm aware our bomber analogues are capable of defending themselves from enemy fighters, so unless our bombers are incapable of inflicting meaningful damage on the enemy ships I think we should send as many small craft as possible. (Also it allows more pilots to get in on the action, and will provide more xp for pilot growth)

3B This one I'm torn on, as we might be leaving our group open to raids by enemy small craft, but I don't think it's very likely that the enemy group will be sending out their craft to raid us after we'd just destroyed a fair number of their vessels and small craft, I think it's more likely that they'll be trying to rush towards the nearby base.

As everyone else has said the analyzer isn't doing us any good sitting on the flight deck. Mabel volunteers to be the shuttle pilot. With luck she'll be able to convince R and D that she needs something faster than a shuttle to make the trip back.

I'm pretty torn on this one, but Cimbri makes a good point re: XP. Hopefully our side doesn't eat too much damage though, repair/assembly rolls have not been our strong suit thus far.

Less ships means more of a chance they make it at least partway unnoticed. At that point the Hornets will hopefully be fast enough to get the job done and get out without getting entangled.

If we push both fighter wings out we only have the exhausted Raptor pilots to provide CAP. So it's got to be A or B.

I really want to go on the raid with the Scimitars, but the Rapiers are better fighters. And that Fralthi is going to probably do everything in its power not to get killed. Which means a lot of fighters.

I would have preferred running system patrols to thjin out the fighters, but needs must.

That leaves 9 Hornets and the Scimitars for CAP, scramble, local patrols and shuttle escort duty.

And gets us Raptors and Scimitars for any raid on the base.

Operation Kitty Litter
T'rel Meh System
2657.141
About 0000 Hours

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Day 2
Briefing Room

"All right boys and girls. We have a lot to get done. We know we are facing at least one cruiser and its two frigates. We are launching the entire Rapier squadron and sending our destroyers in a bid to take that cruiser down. The squadron is still a plane down so I am turning my personal fighter temporarily over to the wing. Fried, I am putting you in command of the squadron. Overall command of the operation will fall on Captain Chen on the Gilgamesh. As the squadron is still a plane down I will be turning my personal Rapier over to Pepper temporarily. Pepper, try to bring my fighter home in better shape then you brought in your own. You will take the two refueling shuttles with you. Once you arrive at a rough intercept point your planes will refuel and then six of your will head out in groups of two to find the enemy, reporting back every two hours. Once you find the cruiser send out a comm blast. This will reveal your position and stir up a hornets nest. All the cats in the area will probably head for the cruiser. When you get the blast all ships will head for the cruiser. Try to knock out the Fralthi's antimatter guns to take pressure off the destroyers. Your primary objective is to destroy or disable the Fralthi. Secondary Objectives are to wipe out any surviving fighters and the frigate escort. Do not risk the entire squadron for the secondary objectives unless the odds look good. Once the mission is complete escort the destroyers and shuttles back here."

"Six Hornets are going on a long-range recon to the known moon base. Your orders are to fly in, take some pictures, and get out. Engage enemy patrols if the odds look good but do not get bogged down. We need data more then we need a few kills. Pops, you are in charge of the recon run. Bring everyone home."

"We are sending one of our shuttles back through the jump point with a data packet and pieces from the wreckage of a destroyed Kilrathi fighter you hauled in yesterday. Camp Tramp will fly one of the Search and Rescue shuttles back to the jump point to Silenos with the other six Hornets as escorts. Starblade, you will command the escort. Intel believes that the Kilrathi might suspect we will retreat after our encounter with the Fralthi if they believe us to be a smaller ship so there is concern that the Kilrathi might send patrols towards the jump point to find out if we are retreating so we are sending as heavy an escort as we can spare. Camp Tramp, once you make the jump to Silenos you are on your own. Your nav route will stick through the nebula for most of the trip to give you as much cover as you can. Report to Torgo Sector HQ and pass on the data packet. If you come under Kilrathi attack and do not expect to escape broadcast the data. Good luck son. Once you reach Torgo you will get your new orders there. I am not sure if command will send you back to us or if you will await the end of the operation."

"The Raptors are going to be down for refitting. We expect to have all the Raptors reequipped for combat within 24 hours with the possible exception of some of the damaged craft which may take longer. I want all Raptor pilots to get some rack time. In about six hours I will rotate some of you to ready status as your craft are readied. The crew chiefs tell me that the greenies are shaking out well and they are going to spread them out a bit more. This means we should be able to work on more fighters at a time going forward."

"Scimitars, you are going to have to take over close range patrol duties. Alpha and Beta patrols will cover the first 8 hours, Gamma and Delta the second, and Epsilon and Zeta will take the last shift. If we do come under attack we will scramble additional Scimitars and any Raptors we can scrape up. Engage any enemy you encounter if the odds look good. The cats know we are here now and probably have a rough idea of our location. Be careful out there."

Not a bad first day. While things are going to be picking up big time from here on out. We killed a destroyer, two trasnports, a corvette, got some useful intel, and are in a good position to hit the Cats. No losses so far of fighters - everything at least is in a state it can be repaired within a day or so. MOrale is steady and we seem to be showing our green a bit less. If we can keep up an active tempo of flight ops and avoid major losses, we might even survive and have something to show for it!

The destroyer took the full minefield to the face to mostly shield damage and some minor hull damage and was finished off by massed missile fire from a squadron of fighters. But that was a destroyer - a cruiser is much, much bigger. Presuming we can damage the turrets, probably a good secondary target if we have a chance to make strafing runs on it is the hangar - that thing can carry theoretically as many fighters as our carrier has - much less the single squadron sent after it. Presuming the flight deck is 'hot' and will be launching everything they have soon as we get in scanner range and if they have any other patrols in the area, we -will- be massively outnumbered. So any immediate damage we can do to limit thier ability to launch more CAP will be of great help.
