If you can bingo a torpedo through the shields and into the hangar of a Kilrathi capital ship during combat, drinks are on me.

Besides, its a lovely afterparty if the person its in honor of is dead"

Good luck to all strike teams. Get back in one piece. Make sure the enemy is in lots of pieces.

When the strike group moves to engage the enemy Fralthi, the wing commander should go 'All squads, accelerate to attack speed' when they kick in afterburners.

This world looks very scary....

Bad news. I was keeping all my notes and spreadsheets on a USB and it is not reading. I lost it all and it would take more time then I have to rebuild all my combat tables and rules which I do not have memorized. So I am going to have to call the LP.

I can tell you that I was working on an update with a lot of action. While I do not have details here is what happened:

The Hornet group that went to the planet lost half its strength while collecting intel. The three planes lost all had the pilots eject in atmosphere and they were down on the planet. A mission to attack the base might have changed into involving a marine attack to rescue POWs.

The Hornet group escorting the shuttle lost one fighter when they were jumped by a wing of Gratha. The shuttle pulled in the pilot and I was going to have a vote on whether to push forward or abort and head back.

The Rapiers found the Fralthi and a general melee broke out with the 12 rapiers fighting 20 fighters (6 Salthi, 10 Krants, and 4 Jalthi). Three Rapiers went down. Two pilots survived and one died. One of the destroyers was badly damaged but the Fralthi and its two escorts were destroyed.

There was another newer model Fralthi at the jump point the Phoenix was heading for carrying 50 fighters. A flight of Salthi from that ship found the Phoenix group. The patrolling Scimitars took out a few fighters but enough Salthi escaped to pass on the word. An attack group was inbound for the Phoenix consisting of about 30 fighters of various sizes and two corvettes armed with prototype torpedos.

The Kilrathi just debuted torpedoes. The info from the defecting Corvette was going to lead to a cache of torpedoes in the next system that could be raided to steal some.

The overarching story is that the Kilrathi attack was approved as an attack on the shipyards at Speradon. The Kilrathi Admiral had other plans. He sought permission to make this attack because he had just discovered that his son, the only heir to his family that was believed dead, was stranded on a planet in the Landreich systems. His plan was to use the attack to open a corridor and then try to rescue his son without revealing this treasonous disobedience to orders.

The next mission after this attack was stopped was to either go (depending on a vote) support the Landreich systems against a Kilrathi attack or lead a Confederation task force to support the Kilrathi rebellion at Ghorah Khar. I planned for the next mission to introduce torpedo adaptations to the Raptor and add a jump-capable Ferret squadron. Then introduce the improved Rapiers and then Broadswords, Epees, and Sabres.

I learned that I made the combat system too complex. It took a long time to resolve. If I ever reboot something like this I am not sure if I would stick to the Wing Commander universe and might experiment with something else. I also need to simplify gun energy and missile use somehow.

I am sorry for having to kill this so soon after starting. It took me over 40 hours to put this together and I am just not able to recreate all that in a reasonable amount of time. Thanks for everyone who participated. Many of your posts made me laugh.

Maybe there's a Goon here who can run data recovery on your USB stick?

Thank you for the time and effort running this, it's really fun watching the various tabletop and DiY LPs and it's an inspiration.

It better have been, I was really hoping Raven would somehow become the protagonist given her killstreak :colbert:

Seriously though, Xenocides I hope that maybe you can find someone who can do data recovery, but if not it's still been a fun ride regardless.

I have my doubts about data recovery. I did not want to admit this but it went in the washing machine.

In all sincerity, you'd be surprised. I freely admit that I sent a USB or two through the washing machine myself and they still worked.

Did you plug it in when it might have still been wet/damp?

You could try cracking open the casing and dipping the whole thing into 99% isopropyl alcohol to dry it completely.
