hmm, how about a compromise. We switch to 24 hour time but it starts at noon. this preserves our convenient single digit times for when people are off work and awake.

Here are some simple conversions 5:00 am -> 05:00 -> 17:00 am 12:05 am ->00:05 -> 12:05 am 5:00 pm -> 17:00 -> 5:00 pm (NO leading zero) 12:05 pm -> 12:05 -> :05 pm (NO leading zeros under any circumstances)
