Decided to try Akanesasu Shoujo/The Girl In Twilight on a whim after a few twitter friends livewatched. Pushing some very mid-2000's Magical Girl-adjacent adventure show buttons. Well obviously because AOTS is going to be Pingu season 2.

A crossover between a two bad shows, one very uneven but sometimes fun show, and a show ruined by subtitles and poor timing so purposeful that it makes me think crunchyroll actively wants all comedy to die. Really it's almost the perfect anime replication of the Justice League movie.

Yeah usually they aren't as bad as Konosuba's but they managed to ruin almost every joke with either poor timing or very bad wording. So you were left with a show where every joke was conceptually very funny, but rarely actually funny on delivery.

I wanted to like fantasy anime Always Sunny, and assume it is very funny when presented well. Unfortunately I cannot understand Japanese and the English subtitles sucked. I wanted to like fantasy anime Always Sunny, and assume it is very funny when presented well.

Goblin Slayer was juvenile in exactly the way I thought it would be, down to predicting more or less exact scene order. If you like it I'm sorry that you're mentally a middle school boy who is the target demo for Youngblood comics.

Second season is good, though fair warning the ending is more than a little rushed.
The ending was fully in keeping with the rest of the series feel, that being a D&D game played by some sincere but disruptive players with a very put upon GM.

The vast majority of 24 episode anime would be better served by being forced down to 18 or 13 episodes.

Behind High Score Girl and continuations of earlier stuff, Angels of Death was easily the next best anime of Summer 2018. Does that work?

Caveat: I did not watch Planet With or Tsukumogami Kashimasu.

Crossed is significantly better written.

Also Franken Fran is the best porn manga I've ever read. It should never be adapted to anime for any reason.

It's bad but that goes without saying it was written by Garth Ennis and people who think Garth Ennis is good, still not as bad as Goblin Slayer.

Release the Spyce was pretty good. The only real problem I had with it was solved when the show revealed that their gun handgun was a neuralizer and not an actual gun. Cause before that the whole seeming execution of mister flamboyant security guard was a bit uncomfortable.

Double Decker had many elements that made me want to like it, but failed to ever get everything together in a cohesive way. Just kind of a mess, hope that improves with further episodes and finding its voice better.

I have no idea the quality of Himote House because it was a dreaded victim of low effort subtitles in a comedy series, rending the comedy completely indecipherable. Like aha I get the Jo Jo reference there, but no idea how the previous sentence was supposed to lead into it.

Was it bad or just something that no one cares about? Both?
As possibly the only person on earth who watched it, it was very bad, but not even bad in a funny way.

The plot is a get the band back together story but for an MMO guild that collapsed after one of its members got Black Leaf'd from dying in game. The characters in said guild keep making references to past events that we haven't seen and don't sound terribly interesting even if he had seen them. The main drive of the show itself is love triangles between middle schoolers who are all basically just unhappy due to misunderstanding. Their is a vague badguy conspiracy to do something bad with the kids psychic powers that are only visible while they play the MMO, I think. The show isn't terribly interested in the bad guys and has them get arrested off screen in the last minutes of the final episode.

I wish the non--fighting bits of the slime show had as good of pacing as the non-fighting bits of Dragonball Kai, cause it wastes a similar amount of time explaining a bunch of in universe rpg mechanics that will not matter in the same way the OG DBZ wasted our time with padded out fights that did not matter.

Agreed, though I appreciate having two different options for getting an abbreviated version if I'm feeling worn down, those being Kai and the original manga.

Goblinslayer's MC name being in engrish all the time and having come from 2chan's version of /tg/ makes me suspicious that he's named after a villain in the Goblins webcomic, which is of similar quality to the anime.

Terrible Opinions
Oct 18, 2013

It's possible, hence me just saying I'm suspicious. The supporting evidence just being the name is always engrish instead of Japanese, and he originated on a board where said bad webcomic was a meme for a while due to its poor visual layout.
