Having ample opportunity to watch the middle-classes, your opponents, I soon came to the conclusion that you are right, perfectly right in expecting no support whatever from them. Their interest is diametrically opposed to yours, though they always will try to maintain the contrary and to make you believe in their most hearty sympathy with your fates. Their doings give them the lie. I hope to have collected more than sufficient evidence of the fact, that—be their words what they please—the middle-classes intend in reality nothing else but to enrich themselves by your labor while they can sell its produce, and to abandon you to starvation as soon as they cannot make a profit by this indirect trade in human flesh. What have they done to prove their professed good-will towards you? Have they ever paid any serious attention to your grievances? Have they done more than paying the expenses of half-a-dozen commissions of inquiry, whose voluminous reports are damned to everlasting slumber among heaps of waste paper on the shelves of the Home Office? Not they indeed, those are things they do not like to speak of—they have left it to a foreigner to inform the civilized world of the degrading situation you have to live in. AND THEN A NEW CENTRIST PARTY POPPED OUT! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITpC6GlBFo0 180 days until Red White and Blue Brexit! Have you started shopping yet? The podcast list reminds me, 5 Live's Brexitcast is generally a pretty good summary of what's going on in the Westminster / Brussels media bubble and has resumed recently post-recess. I realise this thread's not the biggest fan of Laura Kuenssberg but the real star is Adam Fleming and his binders.

In a great example of false balance, the headline on BBC News right now is that the Tories want waiters to keep 100% of their tips. Presumably this is only a headline because Labour got one with their share ownership policy, which is about 5000% more of a big deal.

I know, but I do like supporting a company actually doing good wrestling. Anyway, have a paragraph from Stephen Bush's daily email. quote:You don't need to be Alan Turing to decode Philip Hammond's remarkable interview with the Mail this morning in which he declares Boris Johnson will never be Prime Minister, mocks Johnson's accent, says he doesn't have the grip to run a big department let alone the government, and says his only political achievement is London's cycle hire scheme. (Which is a little unfair: everyone who knows anything about transport policy knows that the cycle hire scheme was the last achievement of Ken Livingstone.) I just enjoyed the taking away of Boris's lone political achievement.

I do not wish to sound too cynical or conspiratorial, but this morning ITV was quite happily talking about a program they will be broadcasting tonight about the Birmingham bombers from the 70s and how they are going to name and shame some new suspects for the first time since the Birmingham 6 were released. My first thoughts were 'are they doing this because of how unworkable the NI border is in regards to Brexit and is this an attempt to start dividing people again?' Like I said, it is a massively conspiratorial thought but with how poorly May answered Marr's question and the fact that it is still causing headaches for them so close to November I wondered if they were going about it another way.

No joke, I'm organising a workshop at my university that takes place over Brexit weekend and whether some of our European speakers will actually want to come has come up more than once. American participants I don't think will be a problem to get over, once they realise the implications of the pound tanking. Ironically and unrelatedly, the workshop is in part about demographic collapses.

Publicly "naming and shaming" a bunch of people who might possibly have done a terror (but might not (but they might (I mean, look at them, the shifty papists, they talk funny & all))), however, is the opposite of good and responsible. Bad and irresponsible, even. Also sounds like a good opportunity for shamelessly sensationalist trash infotainment with a potential "no really we're trying to be socially responsible" cover story though, so I don't think you need to get about it.

People called her a hoor but I thought that was unfair on account of she didn't get any choice in the matter of being there and also it doesn't do to go around calling women hoors in this day and age anyway but they moved her to the middle of some old pond somewhere so they could put up a big spike and she doesn't have her bath so she just looks like she has wild back problems

I enjoy pretty much everything, drink Yeah, there's an Ireland thread in the LAN forums as well but it's a little quiet. I'd recommend Kilmainham Gaol for the revolutionary history poo poo, which connects into the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA). From there you could pop over to the Guinness Storehouse nearby (well worth it in recent years by all accounts), and then across the river to Collins Barracks (free National History Museum, p cool). Slightly separate is Dublin Castle and the Chester Beatty Library within, and nearby things like Trinity College, the National Gallery and the other museums. For drinks, L Mulligan's , The Cobblestone, Grogans, the Workman's Club, there's millions really. Temple Bar worth passing through but full of knobhead stag lads, George's Street up to Camden Street has a good stretch of bars. For trad music, The Cobblestone or O Donoghues probably have sessions most evenings, but I think there's a site which tells you where every session is on. If you fancy some nature, get the DART either north to Howth for a cliff walk, or south to Bray or Greystones. For food, all Irish food is shite so don't bother, but we have a shitload of great restaurants of every type. Just check out some reviews, or the terrible site lovindublin.com which is run by a hipster dickhead, for some current recommendations and avoid tourist trap places in Temple Bar. I might re-buy PMs in the next day or so, but otherwise ask for more info here or in the Ireland thread.
