In previous years the Colts looked lifeless and lost against the Pats. I liked that they managed to stay feisty, even though the entire defense is hurt and the receivers dropped loving everything. Good sign going forward.

Pats offense looked quite a bit more consistent and thoroughly overmatched a very decimated defense. A couple of turnovers ended what were otherwise productive drives, but whatever, both defenses did well at that whole creating turnovers thing. Colts are just an injured pile and people should stop worrying about Luck. Luck is fine, Luck having a better surrounding cast then the Bills would suddenly elevate him in a hilarious way. Either way, thursday night football, not gonna take much from it, hooray for mini-byes.

I have no faith in the Pats D, but I believe the offense is back to being able to compete in shootouts after several weeks of looking ehhhhhhh

Well we also need two tackles but so does the rest of the league. We have our second round pick RG rotating in at RT, and our injured RDPOY contender had to dress out because we literally couldn't declare any more inactive players. We are incredibly thin. Right now, I would say that our biggest needs are: T (both sides, though Costonzo is serviceable if his hamstring ever returns) WR (Even TY has been having trouble getting separation, though I haven't watched all-22 on any game yet to see if this is just play design) DE (Tampa 2 needs to generate 4 man pressure. Eberflaus has been trying to do this by stunting all DL hard, so I don't know if he would even want a current edge rusher ala Chubb) DB (just take a gander at the Gordon touchdown for a glance at our DB depth)

Did the Colts even get one genuine stop that didn't involve a poor pass, bad drop or tipped interception?

The good news for Colts fans is Luck really did look rather good last night. Their Oline actually bothered to play too. Colts defense is going to be terrible unless they can get healthier. The Patriots were unfortunately the Patriots.

The thing about Ebron on the Lions is that he was never a bad player, and was oftentimes a very good one, but he struggled with a ton of drops (Especially in his first few seasons), was never a huge contributor to the passing game, and wasn't great at blocking which is what the Lions really needed from the position. e: And yeah, him getting picked at 10 was always an albatross around his neck, since no matter how well he did he was never going to shake the people saying we should have drafted Aaron Donald instead. this includes myself

The Colts are definitely garbage but I wasn't super impressed by the Patriots either despite scoring 38.

Yeah I was gonna mention this, there were actually two turnovers by both teams on accurate passes being tipped or stolen. Apparently Tom got lucky and they called one of them a fumble but in terms of unlucky turnovers it seemed pretty much equal. That being said the Patriots really weren't having much trouble moving the ball at all and to me the game didn't seem close in terms of performance. I can't wait for the Pats to play some actually good teams (assuming they ever do, one of the easiest schedules in the league yet again) to see how they look. With a decimated Colts secondary and absolutely no ability to get pressure on Brady the result here was never in doubt.

Chung? got, the strip and the one where the receiver ended up knocking it back into the air that the rookie got near the end of the game. That last one was super fluky at least

The first one was a normal interception. Idk, I thought the strip was a pretty stupid rookie play that shouldn't have happened, but I guess not really flukey. The last interception was a bizarre fingertip fling directly into the hands of the defender.

Wilkins fumble and Pascal strip were regressing to the mean after the Edelman and Gronk fumbles. The first Luck interception was a bad decision/throw. He had another few throws that should have been picks tbh. Game was closer than it felt. Luck for the most part has been making great throws that are taking advantage of receivers that can only get separation on comeback routes and their derivatives. Somewhat related note: does anyone know of any free tools that make diagramming plays easy online? I want to confirm a few suspicions, and I would rather not do everything by hand.
