I got the "one day" shtick from a lot of people when I was young but as I get older I only get more radicalized lol. At the current pace I expect to be in a Gritty Gang slaughtering richers within the next decade or so.

yeah my dad used to tell me that once i started getting real paychecks and saw how much i was paying in taxes that i'd come around so now i'm a six-figgy fucktard and i couldn't give less a poo poo about my taxes and as a result have lost a lot of respect for all the adults who hold this view. literally willing to watch the earth burn as long as it means their taxes are just a bit marginally lower

The best (worst) thing my dad ever told me while growing up was that the police (we lived in Chicago) should be allowed to shoot 10 (sometimes he said 5, but usually 10) people with no questions asked. His thinking was that all the red-tape involved with justifying deadly force impedes enforcement of the law. He usually said it when there was a story about the police shooting somebody. He was more mad about the media covering the shooting and making the police look bad. He thought it was "political correctness" to make police justify their killings. He truly believed Chicago would be safer if we just let the police shoot whoever they want without asking too many questions.

My mam constantly bemoans that she doesn't pay enough taxes despite being in the lowest income bracket, and actively laughed when Margaret Thatcher died. She brought me up to respect trade unions and the importance of worker solidarity and be suspicious of the police.

My parents aren't super political - my dad is northern and thus would never vote conservative in a million years but my mum has voted for pretty much every party at some point. Think she even voted for Thatcher at least once. Thankfully we don't have the fox news brain rotting pipeline here and most political news she gets now is from my sister and me, so she's drifting a lot more left.

get that OUT of my face posted:american society seems to be willingly segregating itself with the names parents give children. we already know that people with "black" names get fewer call-ins for job interviews, but i want to see if the opposite is true for people with "white" names. i'd wager yes wasn't there a study this week that determined the two best things you could put on a resume were varsity lacrosse and the first name 'Jared'
