If they don't have somebody already you should volunteer at the animal shelter to take photos of the animals. Good photos help their adoptability a lot.

I was telling a younger guy I was amazed at how usable ISO 1600 shots were when I got my camera (2005), he seemed totally unimpressed. Guess I'm too old Getting usable shots at that sensitivity was super great for getting good pictures of shelter animals where you can't make them hold still in indoor lighting.

Fo3 posted:I had a few e5 engined 323s as run arounds, but never a b6 or bp. I used the be a mazda boy, rotaries for fun on the weekends, a 323 (or a spare 808) for a daily. I also did have a few falcons for whenever I just wanted to pick up stumps and drive cross country for funs, but a pre 1997 falcon is a very boring thing not worth paying the petrol costs on for a daily so those falcons always got flipped when I was done with them. I still want a 323 GT-R. Yeah the 91+ Escorts were BG chassis totally made by Ford.

Applebees Appetizer posted:Saw this pic this morning, trying to figure out which part of the car melted. The alloy wheel looks fine, must be the heads that melted? Or maybe the wheel on the other side possibly. Either way it's nuts. It looks like only part of the wheel is there though? It's a bit deceiving. I only see the face of it.

Seat Safety Switch posted:You're right! I guess they're finally getting serious about that whole everyone-in-the-Japanese-auto-industry-committing-rampant-QA-fraud thing. It's for embezzlement and stuff like that, not really anything to do with cars that I saw.

Rhyno posted:Yeah I gotta do some homework on it. We're also going to do a security system in the near future, I've seen a few integrated ideas. I want cameras covering the exterior doors as well. Are the doors / locks all pretty modern / standard sized? Older ones can be different sizes and you might have to do a bit of work to put in a new lock. In my case it was just easier / cheaper to have a locksmith come in and re-key the locks. This is a 1947 house though.

Oh yeah the locksmith didn't recommend the quick rekeying system for some reason. Also I think opinions were mixed in the DIY forum. Do some research on that.

Seat Safety Switch posted:Except in Canada, they allowed homebuilders to continue using up their back stock of it until depleted. There are houses up to the late 80s here with asbestos in them, and mid-80s with Montana asbestos-vermiculite insulation. Same in the United States. And it's still not actually illegal.

Somewhat Heroic posted:The beater Mazda6 popped the battery light on the way home from work. I turned everything off because I figured the alternator must have died. I was fortunate to make it home. I swapped it out last night, but the replacement is a bit...loud and gravelly sounding. I bet I will be doing the job again within a year. It is the third time I have swapped alternator. Installing the serpentine belt on your own in that car is a total kick in the dick. Parts store alternators are notoriously bad. At least get the lifetime warranty ones so you're swapping them for free.
