I am so loving happy about this, I loved this show and the ending felt so abrupt, and I'd long ago given up on any kind of extension.

Dan putting aside his distaste for Adams after they side with Wu against Lee is still one of my funnest memories of the show. Dan just walking around with a big grin afterwards going,"loving Adams! "

Just randomly remembered the "filthy degenerate" who pays each morning to come in and lick some titties before running out of the Gem Al posted:Stand with us here a second... and out the door he'll go, and prompt as a Swiss timepiece three big-titted whores will now emerge from behind that screen. He lines 'em up at two-foot intervals, smock-tops down, and all but sprints past 'em, giving their titties a lick. And if he misses a titty, he does not let himself retrace his steps...And on he goes, on his way home, relieved for the day....Strange, huh, Miles? But something you gotta know about specialists. They pay a premium, and they never cause loving trouble. I sometimes imagine, in my declining years, running a small joint in Manchester, England, catering to specialists exclusively. And to let them know they're amongst their own, maybe I'll operate from the corner, hanging upside-down like a loving bat. Jerusalem fucked around with this message at 04:11 on Nov 14, 2018 |

Apparently Milch is involved to some degree on True Detective season 3, which has me tentatively excited even with the knowledge that apparently Nic Pizzolatto continues to have "creative differences" with his directors.

Bryan Fuller is such a fan of Deadwood that he created a lengthy history of getting hosed over by studios, just so American Gods season 2 would be cursed and McShane would want to get the hell out of there

Justified is great but when the gently caress are they gonna pass a law stopping Michael Rapaport from being in good shows and wrecking them? Season 5 killed my interest in the show and by the time I caught up on season 6, I'd grown to really detest Raylan and was far more interested in Boyd and Ava. Seasons 1 - 4 are exceptional though, and yeah Margo Martindale in season 2 is an incredible villain.

I saw it when it first came out and while the Tarantino influence was pretty clear, unlike a lot of stuff that came out trying to ape his style at the time you could tell the movie could stand on its own two feet. Probably helped by having Doug Liman directing. Edit: I haven't been to a mystery movie marathon in years but God we used to have the best time - the movies were almost always deliberately chosen to be terrible or weird but you'd get the odd gem in there as well. That's how I first saw The Story of Ricky which is a life-changing experience

kaworu posted:And yes, it's portrayed as heroic in the film, but we only truly understand how and why until that final scene with him where he lays down with his wife and has her read it to him. I thought the film should have ended right there, in a way. I really wish the film had ended with Lincoln saying,"I'd like to stay, but I have to go" and heading out on the coach with the servant watching him head off into the night. Actually showing the aftermath of the assassination was a misstep in my view, we all knew it was going to happen and it overshadows so much of everything else remarkable he did over the course of the film.

davidspackage posted:One of my favorite Deadwood is Bullock trying to enthuse people for their goods. YES! ....got ya boots here, boys.... He's so obviously completely unqualified to be a salesman, it's amazing. But then you have the bit where the guy stomps up and says he doesn't want to wait in line so he'll pay up now and pick them up later, and Bullock quietly takes him aside and explains,"You stand in line like everybody else, got that? The fact that Dan spends the next 2-3 episodes just absolutely hosed up and recovering from that fight was something you so rarely see as well (though Al being absolutely destroyed by the fight with Seth he technically won, and then the look on his face when he realizes that Seth has just been happily going about his business ever since barely showing any signs of damage was another great little bit).
