I don't! Huh, that does make sense now that I look at it and extrapolate, and I should have known that anyway. That'd be a cool thing for someone with a drone to show, like some really light but wide thing lifted by the drone.

Er, anyway, I doubt they're taking the field down there.

That doesn't really take anything away from him, it just makes running the ball an ever better idea in those situations. And with Rodgers you have to stay up on your coverage which opens up the run game a ton.

Quite a few teams recently have actually been winning games by primarily running the ball against coverage defenses

Well yes but my whole point is that the threat is Rodgers. Jones is clearly benefiting from it. That absolutely takes some of the credit away.

I mean every team can pass the ball and every team runs it when it's advantageous to do so. I think this is a bit glib to try to give Rodgers the credit for the yards Jones picks up on the ground. Especially since there are more effective quarterbacks than Rodgers this season in the NFL.

The NFL flew some kind of international grass expert from London and they even sent George Toma down there. (he's a legendary groundskeeper who was literally the NFL's field expert for every single super bowl ever played)

He was interviewed on KC radio, he thinks there's a chance the field might be playable, but he's not certain, it'll be close.

holy poo poo I was totally wrong

It sounds like threatening to get the NFLPA, and possibly some players deciding they wouldn't play, put enough heat on. Still, I'm extremely surprised but I guess it must've been really really bad. I guess it makes sense for them to make the decisions now rather than waiting for too long.

What a clusterfuck. All they had to do was get a decent field on there and there's so many ways they could've done that

It's a total and complete embarrassment on so many levels but hand it to the NFL for cutting the losses and taking the L instead of leaning into a bigger debacle. For once.

Listening to George Toma, he was down there a few months ago and he said it was pretty bad back then. It obviously got torn up by the concert, but he said he could have gotten the field ready if the NFL had sent him to work on it for a couple months without any events other than maybe soccer.

It's amazing to me that George Toma is still alive. Like, every Super Bowl, decades of doing stuff in Kansas City when he wasn't doing that, now he's flying down to Mexico at (looks it up)...89 if I did the math right?

We need to get a new turf/grass/field guru because this one can't last much longer.

Seams in astroturf were the main ligament threats as I remember. Like, there were places you'd plant your foot and it would get caught between two pieces of turf and not let go. Of course it was like playing on concrete with a rug over it too, so everything else sucked about it in addition to that.

I'd imagine seams could be a problem with actual grass planted like that too, or at least it seems like it could? I am not an expert.

The old real grass field at Reliant Stadium caused a lot of knee injuries because there were holes all over for people to step in.

Shanahan was sort of the second gunman there, RG3 not knowing how to slide properly is what wounded him

It was Shanahan trotting him back out there after he was already obviously injured that people take issue with I think. It was pretty painful to watch at the time.
