Last night I got home late from work and noticed "Assigned Parking" signs on every single spot on the first and second floors of the parking structure I've been parking in for the last three years. This morning I left a little late for work so I could pop into the parking office to see what's up, because I haven't gotten any mail or notification of anything new.

"Ah, yes, those are for the private preferred parking customers. Are you a private preferred parking customer?"

"Um, I don't know? I wasn't aware there were different tiers of parking, I pay $30 a month for parking, am I?"

"No, that's just regular public parking. You'll have to park on the third floor or above, unless you'd like to become a private preferred customer for $40 a month?"

"Nah."
