I had nearly forgotten about the treatment of Chris Kanyon and then I remember that segment on Smackdown where he comes out of a crate dressed like Boy George and the Undertaker just wails on him then it ends with a really nasty unprotectected chairshot. It's pretty loving hard to watch and doesn't paint Undertaker in a good light.

Choosing between exploiting a real war and honoring Jimmy Snuka is harder than I thought. My gut reaction says Snuka because audiences at the time seemed to reject the Sgt. Slaughter Iraqi sympathizer angle where as I know people that still revere Snuka to this day.

Tough one but Hogan literally said on that sex tape "I am a racist" before going on a racist tirade. The Bryan thing is lovely but it's more egregious what they did to Rey Mysterio who is also in this tourney.

Jesus this is another tough one but my gut says HHH because saying people like Booker T can't be champion then defeating him cleanly with a single Pedigree still angers me to this day. I know the Vader/Ron Simmons angle is extremely similar with Harley Race giving his infamous "I was 7 times World Champion and I had a boy like you carry my bags." promo but at the end of the day Ron Simmons beat Vader.
The Hawk thing is also loving terrible and makes a strong case for worst angle of the Attitude Era but maybe I am a bit partial because I was a huge Booker T fan from back when WCW started pushing him as a singles competitor and was never a huge Legion of Doom fan.

I went with loving over the talent financially yet again this time but building a corporate culture where casual racism is seen as acceptable also really really lovely.

There are no winners and we all get to feel lovely for ever giving money to the WWE.

After doing some more research on the ring boy scandal spurred on by some very helpful quotes from Bix it seems that Mel Phillips raped at least dozens of children and it may have been over 100. Vince McMahon was likely warned of what he was doing several times, including a letter from Lord Littlebrook.

Vince actually let Mel go (he would deny Mel was ever employed by the WWF which was true in the sense that John Cena was never employed by WWE) because what he told Meltzer and another reporter that Mel had peculiar and unnatural relationships with children but REHIRED him with the promise he not hang around kids.

Then there's Terry Garvin and the Terry Garvin School of Self Defense that Gorilla would joke about. Maybe Tony Schiavone was right not to want to pay tribute to him.

Here is a clip of Terry Funk beating the poo poo out of Mel Phillips while Vince is on commentary. Added bonus the ref is Rita Chatterton who accused Vince McMahon of rape. I don't know much more about the rape accusation other than Vince and Linda filed a countersuit for emotional distress.

Or sending off one of the most popular women in the history of the company with a drawn out segment calling her a slut.

Don't forget they had Cryme Tyme selling her panties to the crowd while making "Lita is a slut" jokes.

Speaking of Akeem the African Dream, Slick was a pretty problematic character. By the time I started watching he had become the Reverend Slick and was trying to civilize Kamala. It's a rabbit hole of racism that just doesn't stop.

As for Orton you could argue it is part of that period's Wellness.

Speaking of Orton, didn't have to rewrite the rules several times for the Wellness policy so as to avoid giving him his third strike?

Go back and watch some of those early Goldust matches, the entire crowd is chanting homophobic slurs. I know that the gay panic heel is almost as old as wrestling itself but doesn't make it any less heinous.
As weird as it sounds Katie Vick feels out matched in this tourney. It seems like a quaint anecdote someone brings up when they talk about how dumb wrestling is when compared to most of this poo poo.

JR is a racist and constantly praises Bill Watts. Still making fun of a dude for having Bell's Palsy is pretty loving lovely.

I went with Elizabeth because that poor woman went through so much poo poo in her life and the final insult was having her death exploited by the WWE. It's been forever since I've seen that WWE Confidential episode but I remember it was pretty much WWE strongly insinuating that Lex Luger killed her.

I had to go with racist HHH because he won the goddamn match against Booker T in such a definitive manner. They could have easily had HHH win the title back at the next PPV or even on an episode of Raw if they were so goddamned determined to keep HHH's reign of terror going on. Even a Dusty Finish where HHH retains would have been better then what we got at Wrestlemania 19.

Tony Soprano was pretty racist and so is HHH so they have that in common. Although I'm pretty sure the late James Gandolfini wasn't racist but Paul Levesque certainly is.

Just learning the full extent of the Ring Boy scandal is loving disgusting. I remember hearing rumblings about it in the late 90's and early 2000's but it was always spun as some disgruntled employees with axes to grind or as homophobic attacks on Pat Patterson. Before this tournament I was thinking of returning around Rumble or Mania time. Now I'm finally done with WWE and I've been watching since late 1991.

Wasn't Dino Bravo killed by the Canadian Mafia for selling illegal cigarettes or something? Compared to most people on this list that seems like it hardly qualifies.

I think the Shawn Michaels of today would absolutely agree with you. He was a petty, egocentric piece of poo poo who got away with almost everything thanks to both being legitimately one of the best wrestlers of all time AND being in place when Vince McMahon/WWF was at its most vulnerable. Even today there's still a bit of a whiff of narcissism/self-aggrandizement about him and how "humble" he is but I doubt anybody would argue that he isn't a better person now than he was in the 90s.

The Shawn Michaels of today would come out of retirement to accept blood money from the KSA.
