Saved by The Pit. I still think that iron knuckle spawn trigger was walking out of the core room, which you missed out on on the first pass because it warps you out.

Yeah, from getting the chance to actually hear the audio this time around it made the NO/YES noises whenever he hit each one, implying there was a correct one, which he eventually did hit to spawn the Knuckle.

I'm pretty sure what happened here is this bug, which eventually causes additional objects to fail to load. You could have just exited and reentered the tower, but of course being sent to the pit is way funnier.

Between choosing to save and reset the game or going to The Pit, he made the right call.

IIRC they might have actually been able to use that to skip the trials; I think that barrier is one of the things the game forgets to load when you have too many beams loaded at once. Ahem. Goku has never cheated the game, nor himself. He always grows. He always improves. He never takes shortcuts, and gains everything. Goku would not want a hollow victory. Nimpize was risked, and The Pit was gained. It is sad you don't know the difference.
