I’m cruising in Carnival Magic in 7 days, which is a relatively new ship. My only other Carnival Cruise was 2 years ago on the Liberty which is much smaller than the Magic and much older. I had a great time on the Liberty and look forward to next week. I’ve also been on the Oasis which was amazing and a handful of Princess ships. Oasis is by far my favorite but I didn’t find anything negative about Carnival to keep me from cruising them.

In a way I liked the 4 nighter on the Liberty the most because the ship was manageable to get around. Sometimes the Oasis felt like I had to go on a cross country trek to get coffee.

Carnival Magic was denied disembarking at Grand Turk yesterday. I’m on the Magic tomorrow with a Wednesday stop in Grand Turk and I’m hoping this doesn’t happen to us. We are supposed to hit the beaches for my wifes 40th. She’s losing her poo poo over maybe not stopping there.

Just got off the Magic and I’m sitting at Chili’s in FLL. Loved the ship and the trip, might be my favorite cruise thus far.

Word started spreading around the ship last night about Carnival suspending future trips. Saw a few bartenders and other staff crying. Was a sort of somber night.

So coming home from our cruise last night, we are struggling here. Found groceries finally but man do people look at you like a leper if you say you were on a cruise.

We left on the 7th for Ft Lauderdale and flew home yesterday, 6 nights on Carnival Magic. No internet at all, only outside world contact was the random ESPN poo poo on the casino bar TV. That’s how I learned the NBA shut down and that poo poo was slowly falling apart. Thursday we went to an all inclusive resort excursion in Amber Cove and I got on their WiFi for about 8 minutes. Checked my email, verified our Saturday Jet Blue flight was good to go, and checked Facebook for a minute and realized the world had gone to poo poo. Most of our cruise was at sea due to high winds and rough seas, so we really just shut off life for a week.

Well I normally don’t do a massive food shopping run before a vacation, never have. No need for it. Except last night I came home to a world gone apeshit. We had 3 apples in the fridge and some frozen food. Everything cleaned out, toilet paper more expensive than ammunition, and my wife does NOT deal well with this poo poo.

Went to a bar near us for some St Paddy’s food and a drunk couple mentioned a local meat market/grocery. So we checked it out and got lucky. Food and provisions for a good 10 days now. I never thought I’d see something like this in my life after living through 9/11 and countless blizzards.

Glad I got to do that cruise, it’s going to rank as one of my favorite vacations, but I’ll never grasp what I came home to as long as I live.

After reading that I'm shocked that my sailing (Carnival Magic) actually left port on March 8th. It was out of FL and no one on the east coast of the US was concerned at that point I guess? I'd cruise Carnival again, we had a great time. And, that ship was loving SPOTLESS. All railings and public area doors and the elevators and bars were cleaned hourly, I've never seen a cleaner cruise ship.

I will admit though, I was pretty nervous for 3 weeks after getting home and was glad when me and my family hit that 21 day post cruise point with zero symptoms. 2 airports (one was Newark Terminal C, the International terminal), cruise terminal twice, the actual cruise, 2 airplanes and shuttles to and from the airports had me worried.

If you miss the stated time to get back on the ship at a port, don't loving go on the news and bitch that you were left behind

Why would you book a third party with elderly and pregnant companions? Why would you disembark without your passport in the unfortunate, but apparently likely, event of you not getting back on?
