the cricket narrative very strange and complete bs, by the way. "havana syndrome" wasn't "i hear a noise," it was "sudden unbearable pain in head followed by weeks of concussion-like symptoms and brain injuries that show up under a CAT scan, accompanied by a noise."

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2018/11/19/the-mystery-of-the-havana-syndrome

quote:

As Lee was cleaning, she felt a sudden burst of pressure in her head, then a stabbing pain worse than any she had ever experienced. Her breath quickened and she was overcome by panic.
...
The Americans suffered from headaches, dizziness, and a perplexing range of other symptoms. Later, specialists studied their brains and determined that the injuries resembled concussions, like those suffered by soldiers struck by roadside bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan. But there were no signs of impact. One of the specialists said it was as if the victims had a “concussion without concussion.” Douglas Smith, who oversaw a team that examined the victims at the University of Pennsylvania, said, “None of us have ever encountered anything like this before.”

it truly is amazing that, as loving weird as trump himself is — orange, sagging, literally the strangest hair on earth — his supporting cast is filled with people even weirder: carter page, roger stone, steve bannon, stephen miller, etc

I compared the piss tape against the Colbert video where he goes to the piss tape hotel room and am pretty sure it's fake. Lighting is an issue: none of the wall lights are on (indicative of a fake reconstructed wall); and the real room has a lamp in the corner, which is also not casting any light in the fake. The shapes on the wall are really, really well reconstructed, but the color seems way off. The real bed has a huge, ornate headboard, which is conveniently cut off here, so all you see is the corner of a mattress. The real ceiling is also ornate, and conveniently cut off in the fake.

Tl:Dr; they did a really good job faking the wall, which is why this looks vaguely credible, but lots of other stuff is fishy as hell

Real life accelerationism: people were so dismayed about Penn station being torn down that the preservation + landmarking movement in NYC sprung up as a direct result of its demolition. Before then, they were tearing up everything and didn't give a poo poo about historical or architectural significance... All people cared about was new poo poo

When the piss tape was posted here i thought it might be fake, because there wasn't much detail whatsoever besides the back wall. In my mind, I thought: this is the perfect way to make a convincing fake — show nothing in-frame except a piece of a wall, and then just carefully try to replicate that one wall. Making a single fake wall is 100000x easier than making a fake ceiling, furniture, face, clothing, etc.

But since then, I've thought more about the other difficulties that making the tape would ensue: getting a bunch of naked blondes to agree to it, finding someone with a body type and face similar enough to trump, doing a REALLY good job with trump's body motions... also the fact that the tape is pretty mundane. Why fake such a mundane tape (trump just sitting there in a suit)? The tape isn't "funny," it's not clear enough to be "incriminating" - it's just clear enough to confuse the 100 people who post in this c-spam thread. So, why go to the effort for that? So now I'm 75% convinced that the tape is real.
