Last I checked, there was two comic shops inside my city, and they're both approximately the size of shoeboxes, so I don't think gaming is on their radar any time soon. One of the big shops a half hour outside has a huge gaming section, though.

A friend of mine asked for some recommendations for non-superhero comics in the mystery and horror genre. Do you guys have any suggestions for recent/current stuff?

Matt Murdock is the worst attorney on earth.

One of the major exceptions to hearsay is called "dying declaration". A deathbed confession is completely usable in court. It's no wonder he's been disbarred six times.

Without knowing what's actually going on in the comic, the NY state rules are such that the prosecution has to be for homicide and the person that made the declaration must be dead at the time of the trial.

Deadpool definitely posts in FYAD.

Kitty Pryde is probably in E/N and ADTRW a lot.

They'd be fine if it wasn't for the advertising.

Of course, then they'd just be regular shirts.

It's a good idea, particularly in the days before writing for the trade, and they were worried about comics becoming so insular only those who had followed them for years could read them. But the approach a lot of writers of the era took of just giving people a catch phrase for their powers was not the best way to do it.

And if that was their goal, they failed anyway!

I remember when X-Files #1 hit and my LCS had it up as their pick of the week or whatever. I thought the art looked real bad so I skipped it. A few months later Wizard had it worth $30 and boy was my like 13 year old self mad!

Yo E&C: I just want to say I appreciate the historical context you can bring to discussions.

It's also amazing how much Wizard influences the industry for a time and how much they were clearly doing it for their own gain since it was before ubiquitous internet.

In other appreciation not comics related: I'm one of the several hundred thousand furloughed federal workers and the people and businesses in my city have have been coming out in amazing ways to support people like myself (and, more importantly, ones who earn far less than me and have families to support). I loved this city before, but this is really adding to that even more.

I dunno. Haven't made my way over there but probably. There's still a skeleton crew working, and I doubt security is checking furlough status.

Like, honestly, being furloughed sucks, but not NEARLY as much as people who have to work without knowing when they'll actually get paid.

If you have multiple stores doing "record" profits you should have an accountant regardless. They exist explicitly to avoid this sort of thing. Or at least tell you it's on its way.

"Build the wall" was actually Odin's idea, so I could see Loki being against it, if anything. In fact, he hosed a horse to ensure it didn't get completed.

Well, it's either here or the actual manga forum, and that one mostly talks about how hot the 9000 year old demon girls are, so I can't really blame them.

E: I fully expect things to close down again in three weeks, but it still means I get my five weeks of backpay, plus three additional weeks of actually working pay in the meantime, which is good.
