To be perfectly faithful to the spirit of the manga the sequence with Mob in the world where everyone hates him needed to last 3 episodes. I don't know how long it really was in the manga but it felt absolutely grueling (appropriately enough)

The character animation is just so good even in scenes that are just dialogue. The scene when Mob and Minori wake up after Mogami's defeat was a real standout imo. https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/69919

i know there was a ton of sub chapters towards the end, but it still seems crazy that there's more material than would fit in an ova. i guess it's good if it gives everything more time to breath

It's basically every 12 or 13 episodes you get a new OP for most shows these days. Way back in the day, you might have one song for a whole run, but that's gotten rarer as time goes on.
