To be fair, the joke's rooted in reality and those two, especially the totally-not-12yo, has been one if not the most popular DoA character (including for "who do you want to see in DoA Xtreme 3") for a while.

Yeah, Marie Rose is terrible. I was happy that she was told to go away and let the adults handle things in the later parts of the story mode. I'm pretty sure that tweet was dunking on the idiots that think she's a good character, though.

For anyone put off by the DOA Quest costume unlocking, last week's patch 1.03a fixed it so it uses the new Costume Parts Overflow system as well as being specific to the playable character. You also get a one-time retroactive parts boost for quests you've already beaten. So if you haven't logged in since the patch, you might get an avalanche of new costumes unlocked next login. Feels good branching out to new characters, Rig in my case, not knowing their movesets and winning using the fundamentals. Given that 80% of players use the same half dozen characters it also seems to throw their timing off badly seeing an uncommon character. Playing in the C-D ranks. Also Nyotengu spam (4P+K) is really something against newbies and I feel bad for players who get caught up in it. My laughter is only for covering up my sympathy tears, promise.

It works well for predictable matchup quality, but it's a double edged sword in that everyone queuing sees all my gimmicks so I can't get cheap wins.

Having good fun with lobbies with strangers. Important to set Region to Same and cap consecutive wins. Of course I keep getting stomped by high ranks and fake-low-rankers, but plenty of equal matchups too. It's nice playing multiple games against the same people, knowing when they're using main or not, and getting some leeway to dick around. And most importantly cut out all the lag.

Yeah the lobbies are real helpful for messing around with new characters. I've been using Brad Wong more often now. I either get completely destroyed or easily win whenever I play as him. Once your opponent figures out his gimmicks it becomes A LOT harder to win.

Try the f2p version, there are plenty of players and matches each day as long as you are okay with some laggy ones. You see a lot of complainers due to a rushed release and poor marketing. That aside, the game is actually good now and I have been seeing a good skill range of opponents each day.

I still get a constant stream of decent connections on xbox which is unusual for hawaii. I'll forever be bouncing around the C ranks though cause I suck and keep getting blown up by A and S ranks.
