Ah, gotcha. Makes sense. Was gonna say, even the street circuits aren't as bumpy as Sebring and a sub-minute lap on the full circuit would be right proper insane/impossible.

This is loving amazing. I hoped he would recover, but I'll admit to being very pessimistic about his chances of ever getting back to an indycar. Now, I think it's just a matter of time. Very glad he's proving my doubts unfounded. What an inspiration.

As a relatively new comer to IndyCar, and knowing that you IndyCar guys love a history chat, what happened in 2015 that caused the series not to return to Fontana? Seems like a cool track for cool kids, and another place to use the speedway aero, which I don't think there's enough of, eye em eitch oh.

I kinda hope Carlin hangs onto Cameron Das, he's a local boy to me, got his start at the electric arrive-and-drive karting place I go to. Hasn't set the world on fire beyond US F4 (which he won in '16), doubt he'll make the jump to GP3 or higher, finished 5th in Euro Formula Open, last year. If he can find a budget, I think he'd do well in Lights.

The only way I could see hybrid being more than a gimmick at Indy is regen off of the turbo to charge a very mild hybrid to be used to supplement the motor (bonus: it's a starter!) or to be used for a push to pass boost. Braking happens so infrequently at Indy that it'd be a once per stint push to pass gimmick

Porsche seemed to make it work pretty well in WEC, They had twin turbines though. One turbine fed the battery, one provided boost.

FWIW LMP2s are separate this year in a Pro-Am class. They added a little weight and forced them to Le Man's gearing to slow them down a bit, and unleashed the DPis
