The beta is available for download on the Epic store. I couldn't find it on Uplay but it's supposed to be there as well. https://t.co/Oj0ejNblKi

The official pages are still showing the open beta times as shown in the picture. Does anyone have a link to the change to an earlier time?

Psychotic Weasel posted:Odd, checking Uplay again this morning I see they've changed the banners. Yesterday one of them mentioned it being available from April 11th 20:00 UTC to April 14 19:00 UTC but today there's no mention of it anywhere, just a link to the FAQ. Guess it was a mistake and they've changed it back. Too bad. Ok thanks. No harm in checking earlier though . I was going to reschedule my day if the change was official, which is why I asked.

Nvidia just released new drivers that support 1800 so if you are running an nvidia card I'd suggest you download them. Hopefully they won't break everything.

How do you pick up quest items? I'm supposed to pick up something in the ocean for Beryl, but all I ever get is an X and a can't pick up message.

Gwyrgyn Blood posted:You probably don't have a free cargo slot to pick it up, your ship starts with all 3 slots filled by default (wood/iron/cannons). It's kind of confusing because there are 2 kinds of slots, the cargo slots (top row) and ship items (bottom row), so you might not realize you can't put stuff like quest items into the ship item slots. Yeah I thought the quest items would go in the 'item' slot (imagine that!! ) so I'll go find an island to settle and dump the stuff off the ship.

In 2205 there was a way to see all of your buildings and click on the list to get to that building. Is that in 1800? I can't find it and really miss it.

One thing, paved roads extend the range of buildings plus of course making deliveries faster.

If I increase the number of houses or promote any houses my income goes up and down severely and chaotically. Why is this? I go from +1,000 to -1,000 in the space of a minute. It's driving me nuts and makes the game very confusing. Any help on this is much appreciated, you folks have been great.

The problem with the fluctuating income seems to lie in the production chain. So whenever you add to or promote people, if your production chain isn't stable enough, your income is going to go down quickly.

Yeah I'm using Hotspot Shield and went through GMG/Ubisoft and I'm fine. Gotta break for breakfast though, don't want to pass out in the chair from hunger . You'll get a 'suspicious activity' email from Ubisoft though.

Drone posted:So how's this VPN thing work if I pre-ordered on Uplay? Connect my handy dandy NordVPN to Australia, launch Uplay, then the game somehow activates? Do I need to remain VPN'd into Australia until the game officially releases here in Germany, or do I only need to VPN in once for the activation? Because the game can be played offline you should only need to VPN once. I used Japan. I'm not seeing though how to change to offline, I'll keep a lookout on Reddit to see if they mention it there. E: Ok yeah, log into the launcher with the vpn. Then quit the game, go into the launcher and choose go offline under the menu in the left hand corner. Game works fine. I went on an expedition for animals, it said I got three, went to the pre-built zoo to house my animals and no animals. Any help much appreciated. (So glad to see Mazz is playing this as well!!!)

The Bramble posted:You need to build empty exhibits first, and then assign animals to the exhibit. It works like placing fields for farms does, so click the zoo building and then the enclosure button from the card. Hope you left a lot of room in the center of your city... I did, I built the empty exhibits. Thing is, was I supposed to click on the animals when the expedition came back? This I didn't do

Once I started using an Anno 1800 calculator I no longer had problems with income bouncing up and down. Just google it, you may prefer one over another.

Psychotic Weasel posted:Note that those ratios will be thrown off if you start manually adjusting the productivity of specific industries or if some buildings happen to fall under the influence of a guild hall. In those cases I've just resorted to guesstimating instead of trying to keep everything perfect. I was wondering about that. The tooltips don't seem to update based on the actual production? I was also thinking that the calculators don't include 'lag' from when you have to transport goods from one world to another. Not real sure how much you should increase production based on the lag, assuming you want 100% at the production facilities. Just got sicked to death after finally getting to engineers. Oh well, I suffer from start-over-itis anyway, so here's another excuse .

Omnicarus posted:Just a reminder to everyone that component production buildings don't need a road to the warehouse, only to the final production building. Your potato farms only need a road to the distillery, not to the warehouse too 🙂 Without the road to the warehouse, will the warehouse still keep any overages? That can be important when you are transitioning to another worker class. Having extra pigs at the start of Workers is very helpful.

Triarii posted:Tooltips do indeed update based on the actual production - I've got some mills getting a boost from a trade union and they show a production time of 0:22. Paved roads increase range if that matters to you. My factories shut down when they are waiting for stuff from other islands, so no they don't stay at 100%.

It's super expensive, at least when you first get to T4 and you need at least two of them. Pro tip:Tier requirements change for tiers two above. So for example T1 needs a marketplace, but T3 does not. Mayveena fucked around with this message at 12:45 on Apr 18, 2019 |

I don't understand production chains in this Anno. The chain for Canned food is 8 cattle farm, 8 red pepper, 8 artisanal kitchens and 6 canneries. So what exactly does that mean? Does that mean if I follow this chain exactly I will end up with no waste? I just got Artisans, 6 canneries seems like a huge amount for the number of Artisans I have.

Polikarpov posted:It's amazing how well this game models imperialism mechanically. You build a beautiful clean metropole where all the important people live and they never have to think about pigshit island or industrial hellsmog island or the New World natives you're brutally exploiting for rum and oil. Yeah 1404 was exploiting the Orient, we get a little closer to some awkwardness with this one using South America in the 1800's. I don't know how the game is presented in other languages but for English, it's presented with British accents and of course North America was a primary British colony. However trying to present the game as trading with slave owners (cotton plantations) would have been a real problem. But if anyone can do it, Blue Byte can, I'm happy with the characters of color they've added to the game. In 2070 and 2205 they used many different people, not just white men, those were made better for me by Blue Byte's commitment to inclusion. I'm responding to this openly, but I suspect most people don't want to discuss this that much, so in the future I'll be spoiling further discussion.

skeleton warrior posted:Is there an opposite calculator than the one that gets posted? I don't want to have to input number of people, I'd rather just know "Each fishery feeds X people". These are the production chains is that what you want?. You'll have to math it out to figure out how many people a fishery feeds though, as the game is traditionally not approached that way. You normally want to know what your peeps want. Sorry can't help you with electricity, was just getting started before the plague or its equivalent wiped out most of my city.
