Something is definitely messed up with the netcode in this game my internet constantly disconnects and reconnects while playing. I saw the game was making an exception for itself in my routers port forwarding

You'll have to math it out to figure out how many people a fishery feeds though, as the game is traditionally not approached that way. You normally want to know what your peeps want. Okay, something's wrong because I ran my economy by those numbers and I wasn't producing nearly enough to keep up. But those seem to be the numbers in the calculator as well, so maybe I'm not counting my population right? I'm mousing over the numbers on the top of the screen and looking at "labor pool" - is that not the right place to grab population? Cripes, this is frustrating.

I managed to get myself stable and in doing so suddenly had built up over 200k in bankroll before even unlocking the new world part of the story. Whoops. Started my expedition but stopped there for the night. A part of me is a bit tempted to start over because my island is so terribly laid out and it pains me with how inefficient so much of it is.

Well my campaign is broken. I got to the escort quest in the new world and instead of going to my port they hosed off to the south west corner of the map. They're now parked there. Some googling and other people are having this issue too. I really hope it's patched in the first patch. I don't want to restart this deep in the campaign. Also it took me ages to see the beer = profit part of the game. I went from 2k in debt and selling made goods like crazy to 2k in profit by making beer. I also bought up shares for another 5k in profit. I don't even have anything to spend it on and now have 1.3 million in the bank on hard difficulty. I know others have said it but it really bares repeating to people just looking at the thread. Buy shares and check the needs bars to see what says +x in gold.

I've only ever really played 2070 and 2205 (although I didn't really get into 2205 as hard for some reason). I assume 1800 is basically all that good trade route/managing production lines/cities stuff but in the industrial age? I really liked the world government stuff in 2070 that gave you little upgrades based on what the playerbase voted on, and the little missions and storylines you could do in it for extra resources and flavour and stuff, is all that stuff still in?

Man pirates were really annoying me. I might be missing something but I couldn't get escorts to travel with trade ships to and from each region. Kept on losing ships and the micro management was driving me nuts. I ended up stringing ships out along the route the trade ships were taking and that was working. Eventually I just blockaded the Pirate island. It was surprisingly effective. The Pirate ships seem to avoid your warships so they are just forever going around in a circle in their little island. The only problem is my ships would get crazy aggressive sometimes and go right into the defenses. Well up until I got Battle Cruisers and took out the Pirates. Do they come back or are they gone forever?

They do come back, but you get a chance to take out the pirate ship that wants to resettle. It's fairly easy to destroy it beforehand.

I hope they take a look at items from the vendors. Some of the pricing seems off (several of the guys are not worth the 25/50k they cost, let alone some of the 300k) along with some items like old world seeds being way too rare; not just the high quality items either, I haven’t yet seen old world seed that wasn’t from a quest. Also I’ll have a follow up post on my perfectionist take today. Short answer is with the commuter port in T4 you can’t really avoid some micro communities but you can streamline it a lot to where it’s pretty neat. It’s grown on me a lot, especially the intricies of workforce balancing. It’s a fun little challenge. Mazz fucked around with this message at 14:07 on Apr 19, 2019 |

I don't think you need to think that much about streamlining your island pops/attractiveness until T4 anyway, you aren't going to be able to get the really high expedition rewards until then as well. It also aptly shows that Industrialisation brought big changes to how society worked.

Yeah, as someone mentioned back in the open beta, the fact that everything uses credits massively inflates their cost. (Instead of licenses.) I feel like we're missing a mechanic to make some of the items ourselves, like in 2070. (It's been a while since I played base 2070 over 2170, the large mod/modpack. But couldn't you custom-order a lot of specific parts from the labs directly? 'Hey, make me one of those Ship speed +20% modules, please.' 'Right away, boss!' *lab explodes 5 seconds later.*) Like an engineering college that can develop various mechanical marvels in exchange for lots of resources. Though I still haven't gotten to the exhibitions or investors yet, so who knows.

Is there any way to reduce the amount of pirates roaming around? My trade routes keep getting plundered and I feel like the number of pirates really ramps up to the point where it's hard to protect all of my ships.

It’s pretty impressivd to see play out. My goal this game was to see if I could offload all my pollution stuff (which is surprisingly limited to just the pig goods and steel through artisans), off to seperate little production islands, in a more 1404 hub and spoke style. The worker requirement makes this pretty different to approach but I found it kind of fun to optimize once I got the hang of it. I was able to offload all my pigs, hops and heavy industry to 2 of the real small nearby islands with equally small but super efficient workforces (trade unions are incredible). My main island has a pop around 7500 and no pollution sources of any kind. I’ll post some screenshots of it when home for anyone curious how it mapped out. I always go for a balance of efficiency/neatness like this in these games so it’s really fun to see it work out. Work is going to drag hard today, too excited to sperg about anno. Yeah I chose "teal" or whatever and now I have to squint for a minute to see if its me, AI 1 (green) or AI 2 (cyan). The UI is sadly a lot worse as it has been in 1404 and even 1701, but they kept bullshit like their quarter rotated map for some reason. Workaround is to use the traderoute map instead.

Usually the pirates are in a corner, so parking a fleet between them and your shipping route often helps. You just have to be careful that your ships don’t chase pirates back into their bases’ kill zone. Edit: yellow and white units are the same on the minimap, which is why I now play as purple

You just have to be careful that your ships don’t chase pirates back into their bases’ kill zone. Depends on the map type, actually. With the default archipelago (which I assume is going to be the most common one anyhow.) they tend to be in one of the corners, aye. During the open beta I did a quick runthrough of the different maps with a revealed map to see how they were: If you play with Atoll, Corners, or Snowflake, you'll get the pirates smack dab in the middle of the map instead, where they'll be of equal nuisance to every player, instead of mostly the one they spawn next to.

So Uplay advertised this at me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yl3lNirnYH4 The first three DLCs are: - New European Session with a continental map type. Plus deep sea diving adventure -Botanical gardens -Arctic session with all new building and production chains The addition of the continental map type suggests they're probably going to ad an Africa or Australia session in season 2.

The world map has the Arctic in the northwest and also a Desert looking one southeast already. They could def just remake the Orient/Venice part of 1404 that and get away with it; I’d buy it in a heartbeat. Australia would be interesting too but I don’t know the trade history of that area to really comment. EDIT: Well shipping undesirables to it could be pretty awesome

Am I gonna need another stick of RAM to handle 4 continuous sessions going on at once? I assume the long delay when first loading the new sessions is due to my 8gb stick barely coping.

I'm still extremely curious what they mean by the Huge Continental map in the Sunken Treasures one. I'm expecting it'll basically be a 2205 map/session. (ie, with landmass equivalent to 2-5 large islands in a really small space. Maybe with a pretty bridge or two as well. ) Thom12255 posted:Am I gonna need another stick of RAM to handle 4 continuous sessions going on at once? I assume the long delay when first loading the new sessions is due to my 8gb stick barely coping. That is very possible, for me switching between sessions is instant, immediately zooming in/out. So you might be choked by your ram a bit there. e: Also I guess it seems like they'll be reintroducing scenarios in the form of those community challenges, so I'm eager to see how those are once they arrive. e2: Holy drat the Exhibition is way way larger than previous monuments. Stage 2 out of 4 demands 1000 worker workforce and 1750 investors just to start construction. SubNat fucked around with this message at 17:27 on Apr 19, 2019 |

No clue what that would look like mechanically, though - again, you've got beef and wool in the game already.
