As Leon says, though, I presume in a Kansai way, I'm not too familiar with dialects. I guess the translation got across that he's not using more common words, at least.

Also Laura is named Nora? (at least, in the version this person is playing, which isn't voice-acted)

The mountains are Urukanus(u), so not far off at all.

I'm looking at this person's videos, for reference (we're currently in the middle of #9)

Gonna guess it's got lots of spoilers, so if I decide to give it a try I'll probably check it out near the end of the game. If you have it in you to translate it as well that'd be awesome, but no need to force yourself!

It's just a few screenshots along with the words, but, yeah, those are certainly things that haven't happened yet.

Ah, I thought the FS1 shop availability seemed awkward, so that's a definite improvement. Off to a mostly wacky start, mysterious saviour aside.

Next post should be on a new page.

I'm not sure if I translated Sarah's question about "that kid". With Sarah's implied line of sight and how Karen answered, it's possible that she was asking about Alice.

Late but since Karen says 'first adventure' I presume she does indeed mean Alice

Sarah: Well...
Burly Store Owner: How can the hero of Outrack have such a [sullen] expression? I heard about Al not coming back. It's naturally to worry, but it won't do to keep fretting.
Sarah: That's not the whole reason...Al might be the man who murdered my father. If that's true, what should I do?
Burly Store Owner: I don't know what happened, but that fellow's a good kid. I'm a little worried about his childlike nature; he's easily hurt.
Sarah: [You think he's] easily hurt, huh...I...had a strange dream yesterday...that Al was crying, all alone...
Burly Store Owner: Maybe he's looking for help?
Sarah (startled): Help? [What do you mean?]
Burly Store Owner: Have you thought of something?
Sarah (thoughtful): ... (she walks to a display, then turns around) I'm going out for a bit. When I come back...would you let me work here part time?
Burly Store Owner: That'd be great...but what do you plan to do?
Sarah (grinning): Oh, nothing. There's some stuff I gotta take care of. Thanks!

:eng101: Dot's Footnote About Moon Runes :eng101:
The Chinese translation rendered Sarah's last statement a little oddly, but I don't understand enough Japanese to have any idea what she actually said. Anybody give me a hand, please?

Something like -

Burly Store Owner: That'd be great...but what brought that on?
Sarah (grinning): Oh, nothing. There's something I was able to get over. Thanks!

Thanks for the LP, I wasn't familiar with the game series at all.

Sound - in theory, this changes the sound chip being used (I’m not sure what any of these settings mean except that FM might be short for Famicom)

FM is (or, was) a common form of sound synthesis back in the times where people had separate sound cards. Something you used to see a lot on sound selection options for DOS games.

Also there's a broken music link just under the stage 1 heading.

One stage per update sounds good to me, at least, as long as some story happens and it's not just a battle.

I tried to find some Japanese videos of this for comparison but there's only people playing the SNES version and the dialogue's sufficiently different that you can't really draw any conclusions. The translation seems decent for the most part, anyway.

Cross-checking with some screenshots of the official Chinese localization, I believe “Mumehr” is supposed to be “Succubus”.

Basically yes - strictly it's muma [夢魔] so this is probably the equivalent of calling her Succubaria or whatever. Though, interestingly Japanese wikipedia files their succubus page under the transliteration from English, probably because muma also covers incubus.

The 'make games harder in localisation' thing will always be weird to me. But yeah I don't feel like the gameplay is compelling enough to show by itself.

You could try seeing if you can cheat yourself infinite health or double health from outside the game with Cheat Engine or the like maybe.

Otherwise, this game doesn’t do anything new or interesting compared to the last two games and though it is technically longer, most of the stages feel like filler, the plot (or what I could get out of it through Google translate) is generic and poorly paced. So far, I still think FS1 has been the most fun to play (of the Farland Story games) and worth replaying.

Yeah, I thought that game felt a little thin.

Apparently this is 広域 rather than 広城. Maybe you can heal from further away with that active?

Also you have mixes of Farlandia and Farsaria, I presume those should be the same thing.

Not sure what our heroes are going to do about a boat since every time this comes up everyone acts like the one they had was literally the only distance-capable boat on the continent so presumably nobody even knows how to build one, but I'm sure they'll work something out.

Yeah, the worst stuff is always when you have to already know what word they meant because a dictionary sure won't help you.

What Kaylinas actually said was the “Kaguya Princess Plan”. What I know of the Kagyua Princess myth (she was banished from the Moon, gave impossible tasks to unwanted suitors, then returned to her home) doesn’t seem relevant to the situation at hand and Google isn’t helping very much so I don’t know why the reference is here so I just took a wild guess with an English equivalent.

This is probably just the part where they find her as a baby in a stick of bamboo and she grows into a beautiful woman, though 'girl becomes beautiful when she grows up' is a pretty generic thing to happen and feels like they just really wanted to put a reference in there.

Yeah, that's kind of curious, the opening scene doesn't really seem to make sense in that sense, given that even Serena implied she (probably) knew it. Well, I guess that part's all resolved now, anyway.
