I have a project in mind that will involve ear molds and possibly hearing aids, the behind the ear type. They would be full shell type. For you hearing aid users, have you had a chance to try different of plastics? For the ear mold I mean - there seem to be everything from very soft silicone to rock hard acrylic. Have you a preference? Feedback will not be an issue for what I have in mind. Can you sleep with them in, if you really needed to? I can hardly sleep with soft foam earplugs in, but I think if they took up the full concha that would distribute the pressure a bit. Do you know specifically what your ear molds are made from - hard acrylic/soft acrylic/silicone? If anyone has a rough Shore value that would be great. I get that the status quo these days is for open ear aids - but I need the full concha and possibly more (the BTE bit) to fit in my electronics. Any feedback "weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" would be very welcome.

Why on earth would you need to sleep in a hearing aid? Anyway, if your first one, or second, or whatever, doesn't work for you keep at it. There's an option out there that will work for you. If you find yourself not using it for whatever reason you need a different one.

For the behind the ear type, the polymer is usually a soft silicone for the ear insert and a harder acrylic for the parts that holds the electronics. However, for the ones that are in-the-ear, it's typically just the harder acrylic.
