I like LWT OP, I've just not been watching anything this week because I'm trying to stay away from the news a bit. He could be more left, but then he'd have to go off syndication or stop being produced by big studios and I don't know if I'd be able to give that up for cash to use on my investigative dives either  .Still think he's good though so I guess that makes me terrible.

John Oliver has never once even approached any indictment of the American system, capitalism, or the liberal discourse and is therefore a technician-reformer collaborator at best. Everything about his show perpetuates the notion that merely pointing out problems is sufficient to resolve them because idiot liberals believe the system is capable of eradicating its own core characteristics when they become excessively problematic for domestic populations. It never actually makes any assertions, it just informs a worthless centrist sense of smugness that comes from having all of the available information and choosing not to act on it in a meaningful way

If it causes just one person to send a message of support whenever they see it happen then the episode was worth it. What other TV segments have you seen recently that don't just create a narrative, but are designed to have some sort of clearly visible, positive external effect?
