Looking at an unbelievably strong first-second post combination here folks. We'll have to wait for the judges, but this might be a historically great start to a thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYlvPDZlt1Y

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NGywOqul4oquote:In 2001, after Dimitri left Dillinger Escape Plan, the band had an open casting call for a replacement vocalist. Fans submitted their renditions of "43% Burnt" with the hopes of becoming the new lead singer. This rendition was recently sent to me. Rather than singing the actual lyrics to "43% Burnt", this individual decided to sing about legendary Redskins receiver Art Monk. It's got everything from layered vocals to sounds of an AIM chat window going off in the background.

Why does everyone before the 1980s appear to run in slow motion? Was everyone on the field really that slow?

The 1960s football symphony one seemed to have old film that was high quality and moved at a more reasonable paceJiminy Christmas! Jiminy Christmas! Shoes! posted:Why does everyone before the 1980s appear to run in slow motion? Was everyone on the field really that slow? I wonder if any of this is attributable to camera work/broadcast live editing, cause even some stuff from the 90s looks really slow and plodding. I think it's cause the camera was less dynamic and used less snap-type zooms. maybe.

It's probably because they're so frequently zoomed in on the player with the ball, which denies the viewer a sense of perspective. Also, a lot of guys are just faster now.

Jiminy Christmas! Shoes! posted:They might be slowing it down on playback, but shooting on film doesn't make something slower. What I was assuming was that it was a product of the film it was made on. Like how if you run 16 fps film through a 24 fps projector everything gets sped up 50 percent (why a lot of older films look faster than they should be; well, that and hand-cranked cameras). I think a lot of the clips we get are also slowed down on purpose to increase the drama. Guys are faster but not that much faster. I mean between the 1980s and now there is some difference sure but not enough to account for that Like here is a video from 1939 that is high quality and shown at the right pace. The players are slower but you can tell the ratio is correct on this clip, and this is from a LONG TIME before the 1980s: https://www.wimp.com/incredibly-clean-footage-of-a-1939-nfl-game-between-the-brooklyn-dodgers-and-detroit-lions/ note: this clip is actually pretty cool^^ Play fucked around with this message at 21:16 on Apr 2, 2019 |
