Its funny if Jonah made it to the presidency unmentioned, but its funnier imo if he was impeached as VP. what the gently caress would he have to do, in that known worthless, toothless position, to earn that? That's the spinoff baby.

So I'm curious as to whether I'm right about something. A lot of us will have known Andy Daly from podcasts, Review etc but I'm guessing there's an amount of people who watch the show who didn't. For those of us who know him, the second Keith was introduced I'm guessing most of us based on the type of characters he plays knew he was going to be a pivotal, and dark character. People who didn't, just thought he was going to be the butt of the joke, b-character who doesn't really do anything and so his turnaround came as genuine surprise. Sound about right? I saw on Twitter that they put out a photo from a table read or something before the season aired, and specifically blurred his face so people didn't know he would turn up.

Wasnt he just a boob in eastbound and down? I recognize him but that's the only thing I can name him in.

I actually thought he was gonna be a b-character who doesn't do anything, because this show has a lot of powerhouse comedic actors coming in to do one episode or one- case in point, Ian Roberts on this season- so when the turnaround happened I was grateful for more Andy Daly.

That's neat then, it came up because my friend told me that I 'called it' when I knew that Daly was going to turn into something dark, but it was more just knowing how he's cast usually. I forgot he was in Eastbound, that's a show that deserves a rewatch but I'm also behind on ever finishing Vice Principals so I should do that soon.

Just binged through this entire show beginning to end. I was going to say a bunch of pithy things about the 7th season's hard wheel-jerk turn into ripped-from-the-headlines politics gags (the toddler bushwacking into the office where Mike was giving a livestream got a bigger laugh from me than even Jonah's KILL 'EM rallies), but clearly all that and more has been amply covered already. That Vulture article is the best and most timely capper I've ever run across, god drat. Seconding the observation about all the 80s/90s character actors showing up out of nowhere, like holy poo poo Peter MacNicol. The one who really got me out of the blue was Wendy/Kathy Najimy, who I last saw in Sister Act belting out a glass-shattering soprano. What a fuckin show. Had no idea what I should have been expecting, but it really overdelivered. Data Graham fucked around with this message at 14:32 on Jun 14, 2019 |

Phenotype posted:Minna episodes are always some of their best. That character just plays off of Selina perfectly, she's so forthright and good-natured and the entire time Selina is just barely stopping herself from telling Minna to shut the gently caress up. JLD is just fantastic with those tortured facial expressions. I just watched the episode where Stephen Fry is Minna's lover who had been poisoned by a political rival, and there's this fantastic scene where Minna tells Selina about how the poison also engorged his penis and changed the texture as well, which makes it great for a vaginal orgasm, and do you prefer a vaginal or a clitoral orgasm, Selina? and JLD's barely-contained dread is just fantastic. Also just had to comment on this, because I keep thinking about how Minna pronounced “penis” and how that is now the way I will always hear BENIS :-DDDDDDD in my head from now on.

Definitely agree on Minna. I was always looking forward to those episodes where she makes an appearance. She certainly didn't disappoint this season, but my favorite episodes have to be the first one with the Angry Birds gift and her grabby husband, and the one with the Chinese President and the deal about Tibet. That Stephen Fry episode also.

Minna was awesome because she was so friendly, but there was always a part of me that thought she was completely loving with Selina. And Selina's constant expression of a mixture of "get me out of here"/"are you loving with me?"/"I'm going to hit you" whenever she was in her presence was so great.

Oh and I wanted to shout out one of my favorite running gags and its payoff, which was Selina and Gary spending like 2 seasons determinedly referring to her mental health clinic stay as a "spa"; and then at the very end when Minna gets her into the embassy and prompts her to formally request asylum, Gary leans in: "spaaaa"

Selina never truly appreciating Gary was the saddest thing, especially when you see Furlong pushing Will around in a wheelchair in the last episode. Those two have the most toxic goddamn relationship I've ever seen on TV but it's Roger who is pushing Will, he didn't abandon him because that would have taken a bit of effort. That's the sort of character development I'm looking for, but I was looking for it in Game of Thrones, not the loving VEEP finale. Good show. We did not deserve

It genuinely made me a bit to see them say farewell. Probably top 5 tv comedies in my lifetime imo. I really want a super-cut of S7 Jonad’s scenes, especially ones with his sister/wife.
