Would you be my new best friends?

Speaking of 2006:

December to Dismember: This is the show that basically got Paul Heyman temporarily fired from WWE after they decided to blame him for the show that THEY put together. They only announced two matches because they felt the Elimination Chamber being the main event would be a draw in and of itself. They matches they DID put on, outside of The Hardyz vs MNM, were complete non-events with guys whose names mostly feature as trivia questions in the misc section of WWE history. The main event was an Elimination Chamber match where Big Show defended the ECW Title against CM Punk, Hardcore Holly, Rob Van Dam, Test and Bobby Lashley. Lashley was getting a rocket strapped to him and they did everything they could to make his victory as impressive as possible, but it was still a huge let-down. CM Punk and RVD had some of the only physical interactions they ever managed to get in ECW despite being tailor-made to feud against each other, and CM Punk was also the first eliminated. Test eliminated Hardcore Holly, then Test eliminated RVD. TEST ELIMINATED RVD. Lashley eliminated Test and Big Show was the last to enter, basically making it a singles match for the title which Lashley won.

Heyman did a quick taped promo at the start of the next ECW saying,"That's it, I'm done. I'm going home" and he left, after having apparently gotten into it with Vince after the show and having to be escorted out of the building, and that was basically the end.

The title is taken off Sting on Nitro because WCW was a loving dumpster fire.

This is the only thing I have left from the Anatomy of an Angle video I did of the entire year of the Sting storyline from way back in the day (I should have kept those loving videos :sigh:) and I think it sums up the incredibly lovely aftermath of the storyline pretty nicely:

Those anatomy of an angle videos were genuinely the best things I may have ever watched in wrestling. Particularly that one and the Austin bad guy one.

The latter was a particular favorite of mine too (that and the run from the double-turn at WM13 to Bret's last title win at Summerslam, including the Hart Foundation reunion and Bret's "heel in America/face in the rest of the world" character) and I will defend to my dying day the Heel Austin angle. Yeah it was dumb and probably lost them a lot of money, but goddamn was it entertaining as hell and Austin was amazing.

Since WM 18 I can barely tell the Wrestlemanias apart.

It's become so much worse since Vince sneezed one day while looking at a chart of numbers and decided that numbers were verboten on Wrestlemania logos from now on.

Does anybody remember the (I believe) one-and-done Capitol Punishment ppv? Without looking anything up, all I can really remember about that show is the weeks of HORRIBLE pieces where King would have a dream sequence LIVE ON THE AIR about politicians having to tell the truth, and on the show itself they got an Obama impersonator to do a shuck and jive because Vince McMahon is a disgusting piece of human trash.

R-Truth smoking on that Raw in England while the crowd chanted,"THAT'S IL-LEGAL!" was loving beautiful.
