My band Soviet Jazz II, Det Oändliga Mörkrets Orkester is co-producing a serial science fiction podcast on the topic of artificial consciousness and the human condition. Of course, lots of people are aware of him in the sense that they know him as more or less a villain to humankind, but remarkably little has been published about his background and work leading up to his scientific breakthroughs and inventions. As we started researching this series, we found an abundance of material on his father but we will try to address most it briefly, as to not get caught up in tangents and sensationalized rumours. Specifically, the crimes of Jorg Fatelle is convered in the second episode, the episode succeeding this one in the series. Despite some downright spectacular work, even if we’re given the liberty to just measure impact objectively (and even such a measurement has proven controversial to many), he is often dismissed as a mean and eccentric drunk with questionable political motives or just plain evil. On the other hand, some praise him as a martyr to this day and claim that his untimely death and it’s bizarre aftermath should be understood as a modern retelling of the Christ or Sisyfos mythos and is therefor key to understanding the spiritual predicament facing humanity today. We take this opportunity to clarify that the producers of this series in no way are to be seen as sympathetic to Frank Fatelle and his work. We merely find his story compelling enough to justify telling. Most court protocols and investigations are also confidential and effectively under lock and key for the foreseeable future, giving us little less to rely on than mass media coverage when it comes to the more widely known aspects of Frank Fatelles story. However, the production team obtained some never before heard testimonies from people in the absolute vicinity of Frank. Even so, almost everyone has only agreed to appear anonymously. All names have been changed to protect the innocent. These testimonies paints a larger picture than previously possible of the advent of artificial consciousness and the beginning of the end of the plastic age. Next episode out Thursday april 18.

Those are portraid and detailed in numerous other sources. Most recently, perhaps, in the book ”Tin Roofs and the Angel of Death” by Watts, Watson and Dr Watts (phd)(2004). As the grim details unravelled in the case Frank came in line of fire of sensationalist media coverage in an unfortunate manner. Reporters at the time approached him quite callously and the doubtless shocked child was publicly investigated in a way that seems unthinkable by these days standards. Frank was taken in by foster parents before the trail began. He never made any recorded judgement about his new family. It is not known if Frank Fatelle was aware of his father’s deeds. At the time of Jorg Fatelle’s arrest Frank was eleven years old. Some argue that it would be too far fetched to believe that he knew nothing. Others take him literally and believe that the arrest truly was a chock for him. Some historical psychologists, including the aforementioned Dr Watts, even argue that Frank is best understood as a survivor or at least a witness. According to these scholars Frank’s chrimes are but the mere conclusion to childhood trauma. Others, however, see this as unnecessarily excusing and irrelevant.
