peasant is rough mostly because they don't have a helmet one thing I'm kinda disappointed in so far is there seems like every incentive in the world to go full heavy armor. you go slower, yea, but you take a l o t less damage and only frontlines has any real dedicated running around. All the skirmish maps are pretty small. I could play a foppish rogue with a rapier or estoc or whatever it actually is in this and dodge around and constantly press X to flourish or I could just be the guy spamming laugh as every swing does ten hp, tops.

the perks in this seem pretty, uh, bad altogether. there's not a lot of good ones, friendly withstanding (though even then) like, dodge is pretty pricey but the dodge is just a man's length left/right/back, which... isn't really useful in any situation, that's not far enough. A swing/stab is still going to connect barring it being a frying pan stab.

That is, a footman's attack against a guy on horseback doesn't seem to benefit from the horse's momentum. I've had quite a few occasions where I've speared or thrown an axe in the face of a cavalryman galloping towards me and he just keeps on going. hitting the rider with any polearm is supposed to dehorse them on the spot, so you probably hit the horse

Almost none of it is actually used in the game proper, it usually devolves into various adjustments of your swinging sword and parrying. You can technically chamber, kick, blah blah blah, but even the MLG superstars don't exactly do it often/ever. Not because it isn't useful, just that it's awkward and dangerous.

I am starting to dislike dodge not because it's bad, though it isn't great and I don't think it's worth four full points, but because it teaches really bad muscle memory of being able to go "whoa poo poo that's going to flub better side step" while being way to expensive to actually shove into every build my halberd guy ends up jumping stupidly a lot you can dodge pretty much at any time tho so it's really great for any archer, you can draw a weapon while dodging when you get surprise rush downed edit: if you're fighting a maul dude just jump whenever you get feinted/beef it and you're invincible. alternatively duck if you're feeling lucky Gamerofthegame fucked around with this message at 01:19 on May 7, 2019 |

game needs team color palettes that you can set for your gear so team red can have warm and blue cold colors, so it's not all the same color set every time for all but two game modes...

I do see people push back at them fairly often, although I wish their discord mods were more ban happy about that poo poo. I should probably just stop looking at that Discord. unfortunately because gamers are want to rise up that's a fast ticket to get review bombed into the grave, so...

technically the only flat rule slashing has over blunt weapons is that it can cut through and hit multiple targets in practice this is usually bad as that's how you TK, but. Usually they're also a big faster tho

Relatively speaking it's easy to chamber spears and rapiers, so just go for that. If you're using a weapon that just can't really stab then morph it.

Archery in this game is weird. Mostly in that it's actually to weak to do much, you'll do 20-40 damage here and there but it's pretty hard to hit consistently with how slow arrows move. (You need a good half/second lead for a practical shot.) If you manage to land a hit on someone's uncovered dome you'll instantly take them out, sure, but that leads more to rushing up to a specific spot and hitting people at an angle you figured out as they come out of the spawn zone and hoping you get some heads. With the perk you also one shot all enemy archers too, of course, but the travel time makes it more of a duel on guessing which way the other guy will side step. Which is amusing, sure, but it does put archery in a pretty weird spot of being use impaired and just not contributing in a fight. so the average sniper class but even more exaggerated then usual the said the trick to defeating them is to a.) wear a helmet you doof and more importantly b.) if you think/know there are archers around just done move in a straight line and you're pretty much untouchable. If you're in a fight don't solely back pedal. All they can really do is try to punish you for being extremely predictable.

megane posted:i'm rank 15 and have literally never ended a round above 1:1 KD count assists cuz people "steal" kills a lot bolster your heart, friend edit: So the crossbow is actually pretty solid, all told. The reloads really aren't that long, so you can do it even in a melee. People will get absolutely pissy at you for playing an archer, but you'll also walk away from a match with a huge amount of assists. I recommend grabbing dodge. You can dodge back while changing weapons, so being the helpless fool isn't so bad and it makes archery duels much easier. Grab a cheap sword of your choosing (cleaver might be sleeper op to be honest) and go nuts. Torso hits will do at a minimum thirty damage, so you're definitely helping. Just don't expect to land a lot of headshots. Picking up friendly would be a good idea, too, for hopefully obvious reasons. Also of note, if someone is charging and in your face they can't block a shot when they're swinging at you, so if you're fighting someone with a non-heavy helmet you can just delete them, at least with the crossbow. Which is extra fun because people like to bumrush the archer despite them usually being useless. Just watch out cuz, uh, you can chamber arrows, so it's not completely fool proof. You will not get a lot of kills, as usually if you can pick someone off they're in an actual fight and getting pushed back and forth from blocking, but you'll have a mountain of assists. the big issue with stabbing imo if that you can miss a stab, correct yourself and still do damage while it's out and that's loving annoying

frontlines just has kinda bad map design in general, no one really wants to contest the points as they're very small areas particularly for full servers of 64. It really needs more large scale objectives or more generic modes, like capture the flag or Battlefield's conquest as much as I dislike it - or other modes from it really. But stuff like rush up to this 1% of the map to hold it then escort a tiny rear end cart in full view of the enemy spawn really does not work or produce a meaningful experience. also hot take; stabs are okay. Some weapons are annoying, the ones you can drag your stab in and still knick someone with the hurt box primarily, but otherwise it gives you more speed and occasionally more damage, depending, for having to actually fairly precisely aim your attack which can certainly be an issue over swinging. If you're fighting a stab happy dude and you can't do the relatively easy chambers just side step back and forth more. If they're going for your head (and they are) they're going to start whiffing a bunch.

Doltos posted:I wouldn't drop the friendly trait but I'd definitely punish missed/blocked attacks more. Longer swing cooldowns or more stamina loss. The game also needs more modes and maps badly. The Battle Royale/Horde modes are fun a couple times but get old quick and frontline is just a meat grinder most of the time. well you see it's a realistic game

horses are also extremely loud... which is actually why they sneak up on you, cuz you hear them from so far away that you kind of tune it out after a while in most frontlines map if there's horsies actually contributing to the fight (don't laugh) you're going to hear it constantly after all
