I'm no naval genius but I don't think it is the greatest idea to take your 12 capital ships next to the enemy's coastline at night with only 1 escort.

They ate 52 torpedoes altogether.

In other news, was explaining this game to someone today and I don't think I did a fully adequate job. Other than describing the UI. "Straight up Windows 95"

I prefer to call it a heavy destroyer

This is either the best use of the maximum allowable displacement or a terrible mistake.

Hilariously, I have this installed to my SSD. I probably could get away with installing it on my 5400rpm archive drive.

Thee green one won't show anything until you have radar researched AND it will only work with ships equipped with radar. As for the others, those are gun ranges.

This system is so loving stupid and I feel like an idiot for giving them the benefit of the doubt.

Also, is it normal for the game to completely stop giving me capital ship battles after 1930 or so? I've not have the game generate a single fleet battle after the RTW1 period ended. Not just the AI refusing to accept it, it's plain not there. It's just DD vs DD with the occasional CLAA while all the carriers and battleships sit at anchor occasionally getting torpedoed by submarines during the start of turn events.

I ordered a board game from them on June 14th and it hasn't shipped yet either, so maybe a neighbor should do a wellness check on them.

1.18 is out

https://nws-online.proboards.com/thread/2250/rtw2-v1-18-update-available

Changelog

quote:

-Air unit kills and bomb hit records are kept for 6 months after a war. If a new war starts within that time, they bring their score into the new war.
-Added option to continue searching if no contact between fleets.
-Bulges and additional deck armour are now removed when using a rebuilt ship as basis for a new design.
-Ships larger than 88000 tons cannot be bulged.
-Floatplanes on ships building will now not generate aircraft maintenance costs.
-Airship bases can now be expanded to have 16 airships. This gives airship anti-shipping activities a little more more effect.
-Reduced dock increases when using slow research speed.
-Adjusted tech developments better to slower research speeds.
-Submarine build now allows up to 12 subs and asks if you wish to generate a random name just before the ship build screen.
-Researching Improved AA director now automatically researches early AA director if not invented before.
-Fixed the bug that can occur when moving the cursor over an aircraft.
-Fixed the bug with additional deck armor adding weight.
-Fixed a bug when checking a rebuild to carrier with 6-inch casemated guns.

Also, this was in the discord

So this just got dropped in the RTW Discord:

quote:

It is my sad duty to announce that Christopher Dean, NWS Owner/Store Operator, passed away this last evening: Dec 1, 2021. He was an associate of mine for 20+ years, but more importantly he was a good friend for whom I could always count on. He will be sorely missed by myself and those who knew him - Chris would always have a kind/funny thing to say to perk up someone who was down, and IMHO he truly cared about "his" customers, personally telephoning and speaking to many of them over the years about their store issues, and sometimes even just to see how they were doing.

Right now the NWS Online Storefront, while technically 'open' is not actively manned, so for now I strongly encourage potential customers to hold off purchases until arrangements can be made to officially close the current store and open a new one - this may take a bit of time, as I suspect anyone who has dealt with such matters may attest to. I will make an announcement here when it officially opens.

If you purchase/recently purchased RTW2 you may PM me on these forums and I will activate your game for you, and will continue to do so until we get a new store system up and running. I will state the following because it is something that Chris and I discussed after his wife Chininia passed away a few weeks ago: Wargames are our passion, and not just a 'job' for us. NWS is still an ongoing entity, and will still continue to produce and sell our games, including existing and future (such as the upcoming RTW2 Expansion) games.
