In Hinge Points they just kind of aimlessly chat about the topic. I agree, but even so I like it a lot. As an extremely dumb guy I have a really poor grasp of history and the counterfactual framing their meandering history chat really works for me for whatever reason. I feel like I'm learning more from it than eg. HoP which was really difficult me to focus on. I don't know maybe that's the counterfactual doing the work by being fun and interesting to think about. I hope they do find their feet and tighten it up but I also hope they keep at least a bit of the same sort of freewheeling "yeah but what if...?" bullshitting between two buds.

When pressed, eg. racists with graduate degrees are always cynically pretending at their bigotry for some sort of personal gain.

Way above and beyond what any reasonable person with annoying fans would be. It was 2018 so it may be different now, but Matt and especially Felix were very kind. I had essentially the exact same experience, just after a show. Incredibly friendly guys and extremely generous with their time.

I don't think there's a lot of value in trying to pick apart what left values he's falling short of or whatever, he (like his followers) is just a liberal and does the sort of things and holds the same sort of worldview as liberals do, even if he can bring himself to say socialism is based on jeff bezos' video game tv. to be fair, this is true for any self-described leftist capital-C Content that tries to position itself as being politically important or constitute political action
