It doesn't look like it did in the first trailers anymore. They look fine now. It's still not a good outfit though.

This is me. I spent 150 hours on an actually long RPG (cold steel 2)

And all my FE playthroughs always take forever too

Can't you just make these yourself? I'm still a bit unclear on what exactly is going on with weapon levels in this game and how classes are connected to them but it seems like there's not many restrictions on that front

I mean, I get that avoiding unions sucks, but I also like that much lesser heard actors get to be in such high-profile games as nintendo makes. The usual dub suspects get boring when they're everywhere.

It's some sort of standard where variations of characters are denoted by this notation: Version!Character

I kinda hate it, it looks awkward and 90% of the time is equally understandable by just leaving the exclamation mark out

Can you really not view information on skills (or abilities, as they're called now) in the middle of battle? Not to mention crests? That feels extremely baffling, but I haven't found a way to do so.

Yes, I get that. I'm asking how do I develop it effectively. Does any skill progress outside of the classroom even count? I mean, I'd think it should, but I haven't noticed gaining any stars outside class yet.

When Heroes really leaned into the being a teacher thing, I was hoping some of that would be from Three Houses itself, some internal monologue or whatever about trying their best to teach their students but....guess....not.
No see, you're supposed to provide that inner monologue because... the character is you!!

I'm actually pretty sure I prefer this type of silent protagonist to the aggressively-bland-and-inoffensive-everyman characterisation that other stories go with for their self-insert protagonists. At least I can imagine the character to be interesting without interference now.

Every class can use any weapon the character has the required stat to use, except gauntlets can't be used while riding, and magic can only be used by the magic-oriented classes. There isn't any restriction on the type of magic that those classes use either even though they say "Dark/White/Black Magic specialist" etc., that's just what their class abilities are focused on.
You say this, and yet mysteriously i lost the ability to equip gauntlets on Byleth when I class changed to monk.

Isn't that another event? In that one it's something like "glittering fish have been spotted in the pond"

This one is where there's a huge pillar of light coming from it.

This has to be the saddest FE game in a while. It seems like there's no good path no matter what. And no word on a good path from a DLC. (Yes I care a lot about happy stories. I only played Revelations for Fates because I wanted Azura to live.)

I may take a break from this for awhile.

In the meantime, I'm reminded of this post on another forum:
https://forums.serenesforest.net/index.php?/topic/83718-japanese-title-of-the-game-its-meaning-elaborated/

Which says Japanese name of the game can be traced back to this old Chinese poem:

寄殷協律
五歲優遊同過日,一朝消散似浮雲
琴詩酒伴皆拋我,雪月花時最憶君
幾度聽雞歌白日,亦曾騎馬詠紅裙
吳娘暮雨蕭蕭曲,自別江南更不聞

That forum post only translates the second line, which contains the characters for the Japanese name of the game. That translation is slightly off. And if you translate the entire poem, it's an incredibly sad poem.

Here's my best attempt to translate the entire thing (with the help of a modern vernacular intermediate translation of the Classical Chinese original):

To An Old Friend
Five years of carefree fun felt like just a day; one morning it all disappeared as if it was fog.
Those friends who played, wrote, and drank with me all left me now; and it's times like this that I think of you the most.
So many times, we woke up together to the morning call of roosters; so many times, we rode horses together and wrote poems about pretty girls.
I hear the mournful melody of the songstress through the twilight rain; and once again remember that ever since I left, I've heard nothing from you.

So while the literally meaning of the Japanese name of the game is Wind-Flower-Snow-Moon, the actual meaning, if you go deep enough, refers to "times like this," times where you feel the melancholy of 5 years of good times passing quickly, and suddenly coming to an end, abandoned by old friends, forced to leave a beloved place, and missing your loved ones.

I think it reflects the themes of the game very well.

I'm going to go drink.

Ugh, I'm trying to raise Byleth's Faith to an A for bishop, and let me tell you. If you thought raising students' skills to A was hard, wait 'till you try this.

I can gain between 70 and 100 points of faith in one day, depending on how lucky I am with the faculty training. I recently hit B, and I still need 570 points to hit A. That means anywhere between 5 free days at best (taking into account the exp i can scrounge up in battle) to 8 goddamn days at worst. That's more than two chapters' worth of free days. God.

They really should've made raising this stuff at least a bit faster and/or take up less of your action economy so you're more incentivised and able to do it early on when everything is really tight.
