Ok so who is playable? im pissed because i never played Mario Maker 1 but i thought you got to play as anyone you had an amiibo of. But now is it just Mario in 1p? Or can you be Mario Luigi or one of two palette swap toads? I need more playable CHARACTERS!!!!!

In 1 you could play as Mario or Mario in a costume of whatever character the level creator deigned to give you. Which was frequently all of them.

Oh the way it works is the amiibo character is a replacement of picking up a mushroom. Instead of turning into big Mario you turn into the amiibo.

You can't just be an amiibo character unless the level drops one on you at the very beginning, and you can't choose the amiibo unless you make the level.

I haven't played it but as far as I know, the story mode is Mario-only & multiplayer assigns Mario/Luigi/Toad/Toadette to P1/P2/P3/P4, all the characters play identically I presume you can freely change your character for the endless mode or just playing levels from the course world but maybe not
