Some Euro stuff:

The Swedish Damallsvenskan can currently be streamed (for a subscription fee) on https://www.damallsvenskan.tv, but will apparently switch to http://obosdamallsvenskan.tv (which currently redirects to the former and hasn't got its TLS in order) tomorrow.

Norwegian Toppserien is streamed at https://www.direktesport.no/, but afaik you're required to subscribe to one of the A-Media papers to access it. I think they all have a "5 weeks for 5 NOK (6 cents)" thing going on, so if you're feeling ambitious you could try to juggle those; should reset by the time you're through all of them. Just remember to unsubscribe!
State channel NRK also send some of the matches, those should be streamable at https://tv.nrk.no/serie/fotball-toppserien-kvinner (might be geoblocked).

I believe Canal+ Sport France currently own the rights to the D1 Feminine, so if you can find some way to access that you should be able to catch some stuff there.

The UWCL (UEFA Women's Champions League) is a giant mess with channels buying the rights at really short notice (in Norway, the semis were sent by one channel and then the final was bought by another, but at such a short notice that the TV listings the day before still told me I needed to tune in to a Swedish channel to catch it). Usually some channel in some country is sending the matches, though, and in the past matches have been streamed on Youtube but idk how things are shaping up for the coming season.

Also a lot of the individual clubs have streamed their home matches on their own services, at least, but that's changing now with TV companies buying up the rights.

Not pro (why is that in the thread title, anyway?), but rather youth NTs: the U19 Euros start tomorrow and should be fairly accessible:

More Euro stuff:

  • The Danish league is now called Gjensidige Kvindeliga and streams on Mycujoo.
Those of you who know Scandinavian might wonder why the name is half Norwegian and half Danish: it's because they got themselves sponsored by a Norwegian insurance company.

  • The German Frauen Bundesliga will apparently have some matches sent by Eurosport, and the rest streamed by Telekom. The latter probably requires a subscription.

For some reason Norwegian companies are now sponsoring every major league in Scandinavia. OBOS has the naming rights to both the Norwegian Toppserien and the swedish Damallsvenskan from before.
OBOS is Toppserien's main sponsor, but Toppserien is still just Toppserien; OBOS only has naming rights for Damallsvenskan.

NFF did away with naming rights a couple of years ago when Tippeligaen became Eliteserien (again), and I assume the same holds for the women's league. Maybe they kept the (lack of) naming rights when they, after refusing OBOS' initial sponsorship offer and pissing off absolutely everyone, caved and handed the sponsor stuff for the women's league over to the actual women?

There's a friendly mini-tournament going on in the States right now, between Lyon, North Carolina Courage, Manchester City and Atletico Madrid. First round is already over, but if nothing else you should be able to watch the matches back on facebook (if you're in one of the countries listed in the tweet below, VPN is required).

First round fixtures for the Scandinavian nations was a breeze for everyone.
Only if you don't include the Faroes in Scandinavia. :v:
They got thumped 0-6 by Wales, who then proceeded to draw at home against Northern Ireland, thus giving Norway even more of a leg up in this group.

Yesterday's friendly was also Ingrid Hjelmseth's final match for the national team. She bows out at the age of 39 with 138 caps, having been a part of the team since 2003. She went off after 85 minutes to a standing ovation from the second-largest crowd ever for a women's match in Norway, which made for a pretty nice testimonial.

England's goal may have been the prettiest goal scored at Brann Stadion this year (Brann certainly hasn't been providing many of them!). Full match highlights from BBC:

Yes, those are the definitions here in Scandinavia, but foreigners like to complicate things (see also: the posts between ours). The ambiguity also made a nice hook for posting more about the group.

The Women's Champions League picked up again this weekend, with a one-match tournament format. Quarterfinals have already been played, with Lyon avenging their men's team and knocking out Bayern, Wolfsburg thumping the last semi-pro team Glasgow 9-1, PSG beating Arsenal and Barcelona edging Atlético Madrid.

The semifinals start tonight, with Wolfsburg vs Barcelona. The second semi is played tomorrow, with Lyon and PSG matching up for the nth time. Both matches are played at 20:00 CEST, which means the first semi starts in an hour and a bit.

Final will be played on Sunday, again at 20:00 CEST.

People in countries without broadcast deals should be able to watch them at UEFA's official streaming thing.

Milan seems to be in the middle of turning the team from title contenders to mid table because the manager, former Milan men’s team player Maurizio Ganz, is alienating all of the good players. After losing Hasegawa in the summer and benching/not even calling up Vero Boquete, it’s being reported that the captain and arguably our best player, Valentina Giacinti, is on the way out in this transfer window. Absolute shame, and I wonder what the hell is going on.
I remember Hovland being one of what, ten players to go when she left last summer, was he managing then too?

Anyway, Swedish football site is reporting Giacinti is going to Roma on loan, and they're sniffing on Asllani as a replacement:

In Europe, the Women's Champion League final starts in about 13 hours (19:00 central euro time). Will air on Youtube, various countries also have TV deals.

The match features reigning champions Barcelona versus pre-pandemic powerhouse Lyon. It is a rematch of the 2019 final, where Lyon comfortably won 4-1, the only reason the score wasn't worse is probably because they took their foot off the gas after scoring 4 goals in the first 30 minutes.

Since then, Barça have generally handed out thumpings of their own, while Lyon missed out on both the UWCL final and the domestic league last year, although a couple of key players were out with injury. So we'll have Barcelona out for revenge, while Lyon is looking for redemption.

Every post of yours on this saga makes the NFF look stupider and stupider.
It's worth noting they invested quite a lot of effort and some more-or-less clever sleight of hand into being this stupid.

They originally wanted to implement this idiocy in the men's league around ten years ago, but the Dutch consultancy report they used got so thoroughly shot down they discarded those plans in (IIRC) 2014. Then they put Karen Espelund in charge of a commission to figure out how to improve women's football in Norway. Espelund was in charge of the NFF back when they (she) realised that nobody gave much of a toss about women's football, so they could probably win medals with very little investment, which they did (she since got ousted by the clownshow that led to this league structure and also made Ada Hegerberg throw up her hands and leave the NT). So just having her name on the commission's report made it more difficult to criticise.

The report did identify quite a few problems, but instead of directly addressing them (more money to clubs so domestic players could train full-time instead of combining jobs/studies with training etc.) it recommended changing the league structure, which would magically make all problems go away. When this recommendation was met with choruses of "this is dumb" (albeit not as loud as in the previous round, as fewer people care about women's football), the NFF changed the recommendation the night before it was supposed to be voted for in the federation congress (the vote was the next morning). They managed to push past a suggestion that voting got postponed so the clubs could figure out what on earth they were voting for, as the new recommendation was quite different to what the clubs had discussed before sending their delegates, and voted for the change against the wishes of most of the clubs actually affected.

And here we are.

Zwachro's comment was connected to the fact that British football is way more physical than in the rest of the world and such situations are more likely to go towards the offensive side. As one of the filthy 'continentals', though, I'd point out to all the situations where GKs were mauled like that time when Petr Cech got his skull literally caved in.
Scandinavian (or Norwegian, at least) football tends towards the physical too, so when Brann's men's team had a German keeper a few years back he kept getting into trouble because opponents were actually allowed to be near him in the box.

And I'm all for protecting keepers, but I still think it's a bit silly to call a free kick when the only contact is between the keeper and their own defenders, like this one. The Norwegian commentators were all "What the hell was that called for? Welp, guess Brann got lucky, we'll take it!".
