I'm not very far in, but if Homelander really doesn't do drink, do drugs, or have sex, then I have a hard time seeing how I'm not going to be rooting for him.

My pat answer for books about gently caress ups where nothing ever matters is Dredd, a comic about a century of bad decisions that never actually helped anything, usually made it worse, and yet the world kept trucking along the same as ever* *Until Russia took their revenge and those bad decisions killed 87% of the Eastern seaboard. But everything kept going after that, just really lovely and even less functional than before Kinda like life in America

the Americans was pretty good but I couldn't finish the last season because the revisionism reached peak levels cuz it kept saying Gorbachev Is Good Actually. also in general it plays Soviet command as being overly paranoid but history shows they had good reason to be paranoid about what the US was doing lol
