So what you're telling me is that I can just let my crusty E30 rot in my parents' garage for another five years and probably throw it on BaT for $6k? I'm okay with that.

Yes pedals are the same, blinker stalk is on opposite side. The main surprising thing is the manual gear shift IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS USA. I just assumed they would be flipped. So first gear is way over on the same side as it would be for USA LHD car.

I thought the blinker stalk varied depending on the car outside of the US? At least on AuDM stuff?

The shifter pattern being the same always fucks with me when I'm watching RHD car videos, but at least it seems like it'd make it easier to translate between right and left hand memory.

It's good. It's very good. And the sound quality is a lot better than older stuff (probably because the studio equipment is lightyears ahead of what they used for everything except maybe 10,000 Days, but that's still 13 years ago), despite me using a CD player older than a lot of forum members :v: (late 80s Sharp 3 beam CD player that someone left next to their garbage a few years back). Running through a low end Onkyo receiver with 90s Infinity speakers...

First impression, i dont know how to use paddle shifters.

So the car was insanely good. Unreal power on demand, I hit it and was clocking 60 in what felt like a heartbeat. The exhaust was noticeable when the windows were down but the engine noise was kind of not a thing? Didn't really take any reckless turns so I cant really assess how it performs there. It was on aftermarket suspension but I didn't find out what make. Felt very good on the road, bumps didnt jar me much. I only had his lunch break to gently caress around so I didn't get to do too many crazy things.

As a drivers car, very cool. But man, the seating position was not great. I couldn't find a good spot that worked for me. Also the interior, while high quality was a bit dated but the car is 9 years old so not that odd. He also tells me this is not a cheap car to own. Yes it has Toyota reliability but when something needs replaced it isnt cheap. He said he has no regrets owning it but he's sunk a solid chunk of cash into it since he bought it new.
He also advised me to buy the newest model possible but 2013s are still running big bucks.

Overall it's a solid 9/10. I'm not sure if I'm a luxury muscle car guy but I wouldnt hate finding out.

Was it a first or second gen? As I understand it the first gen was bone jarring harsh in the ride. They were the sensible persons M3, or at least that is who they were targeting. The first gen auto was a letdown (again quoting early journalists) but the second gen was supposed to be very nice. Their red and blue paint colors were very striking and they are good looking cars. I think the problem is now they are too bland and are easily mistaken of F sport IS250 and IS350 cars. They need to stand out a little more.

So you should just buy the M3 we have been telling you to get.

Props to Maui Jim sunglasses.

Had a couple pair that I've had for years (one I keep in the daily use vehicle, 1 for other use) and finally, one of the arms gave way and fell off. The lenses are very tough and scratch resistant, but the lenses on both were scratched enough to be a distraction so I sent both of them in to get repaired.

They were many, many years out of warranty so I had to pay for the repair. So old, the model/serial #s were completely worn off of the arms on both pairs.

So, for the grand sum of $15 inspection fee and $100 for new lenses on a pair, today I received via Fed Ex 2x brand new pair ($230+ :canada: ea) of glasses, complete with hard and soft cases.

Also bought some groceries at noon and stopped by the next door local pizza joint for an awesome $3 slice.

Its been a good day so far. :)

Probably get in a fatal wreck on my way back to the office... good days don't happen to me anymore :(

The S2K M3 is no more, sold the shell and working on selling the engine. Was too much of a project for me to take on. I miss it and am first in line to buy it back if the current owner changes his mind like I did. The Locost is a street, weekend and track toy that I may sell in the spring to get something like a radical or formula continental. The Lola is a T342 formula ford that sat for 35 years so I'm refurbishing it just enough to race it.

E21, E30 and E28 get rotated for weekend duties and at least for now I have no plans of selling them off. E21 rust is getting bad so I may end up transferring all the good bits to a clean shell in a couple years.

No chicken on the hood, sadly. No t-tops which I'd prefer since they are cool but always leak and suck to deal with, had 2 t-top thirds and nah. A lot of them crack at the corners of the roof since thirds have a floppy chassis. It has the worst engine, 150hp 305 and a 700r4. Otherwise it's fukkin loaded. Has some kind of weird pleather seats that I've never seen in another third and the overhead console with the flashlight that's still there. I dont have any pics and he just put it back in storage. Next time I work on the Olds or if he decides to sell it soon I'll get some pics. If anyone is interested pm me. It'd fuckin rule to have it go to someone here for the LS swap thread.

Japanese cars are always on the right. Except for some weirdness like the first diesel Subaru’s we got, which were all UK spec, so had left hand indicator stalks while ever other Subaru didn’t :downswords:
