I loved Civ - god only knows how many hours I spent on Civ4 - but I can't stand the increasingly cartoony, 1UPT, broken-rear end game they've been peddling since Civ5, so I'm mondo excited for this.

Panzeh posted:civ4 is a much much better game for a variety of reasons civ4 is absolutely better, yes, but part of that is from the technical limitations of a game that was years older. also the factions are cool and good, and the planetary council thing is a better un mechanic, limited as it is, than in any civ game since.

Kinda excited about this, because Civ4 was amazing but feels kinda dated today, whereas IMO Civ5/C:BE/Civ6 all sucked pretty hard. I'm hopeful that they pull it off and gave something good to scratch that Civ itch.

This is going to sound stupid but am I just missing a button to turn on a minimap in the corner of the screen or something? really enjoying the game but it would be nice to have a better sense of where I am whenever it's time to go to give orders to a new unit without having to zoom out and back in.

Eimi posted:The only way to make stability matter would be to nerf the piss out of luxuries. Though I honestly think that'd have bigger knock on effects rather than a more effective production penalty. In my second game I didn't have a single luxury item in any of my territory and stability was a very serious concern. Now I've got like 50 of them in my new game and everything is good all the time, it's all districts all day baby.

Ratios and Tendency posted:I think the morphing cultures is great, the issue is that the leaders currently don't have enough personality to hold it together. I think even just referring to each nation by their flag - hawk nation, spear nation, whatever - with their current culture in bold and previous cultures in smaller text would lend a bit of consistency to it.
