That's your take on things. Here's what the comment in that video have to say:

quote:

Anyone not familiar with game dev, this is an incredible achievement in gaming history albeit the very beginning of major improvements.

-You just witnessed a player accept a dynamically generated mission.
-He then flew from a planets atmosphere into space to meet a space yacht with two bandit fighters engaging, one in which he shot off an engine off of.
-He then disembarked out of his ship and witnessed infantry enemy NPC pirates engaging security NPCs while inside another vehicle in space that technically can be flying.
-He then shot these enemies from space while flying in an EVA suit.
-He then proceeds to board in 1 of many ways while also being able to see inside the ship from the outside.
-Hes now walking in the interior of an intractable (albeit limited) ship performing infantry combat with NPCs.

All without a freaking loading screen, in an online persistent universe where you can go anywhere, with AAA high-end graphics in an Alpha state game.

As a gamer who has been playing games for 34 years since I was 3-4 years old and who has dabbled for 10 years in game dev/modding, this is loving impressive tech. I've been a backer since 2013. Great video man.

Looking over the gofundme it seems like the original goal was $9800, so that $2500 was certainly integral to making the goal. Kickstarter had an issue once upon a time of people donating to make their goals. In essence by letting kickstarter skim some off say $2500 you would be able to keep the post skim larger amount of say $7551.

I've no idea what the specific guidelines were for gofundme at the time this campaign happened and no proof regardless. Still whenever I see a ridiculous amount of money just barely put a campaign past it's goal I have to wonder.

Like for example, pulling junk from CIGs site:

The Hull E has 98,304 cargo capacity.

The Constellation has 96 cargo capacity.

I don't even know how in a multiplayer game any of this is going to be able to be balanced, especially if they have stuff where some ship can crater an economy for everybody else.

Every aspect of this poorly thought out game is all about first come first serve, and everything after that is just wallowing in the broken concepts CIG "made".

I just guess I don't understand how if these people are actually wanting to play a video game sometime aren't throwing up this junk at CIG, and obviously not continuing to spend money on it because the pay to win nature of it is set up in such a way that once you have paid to win every action you do in the game itself is this tremendous "you winned!" scenario that makes you effectively too rich to do anything but buy everything and just effectively give it all away because money is meaningless.

The end game scenario for players is effectively destruction of the game itself.

This is the first come first serve nature though. You got to be that person that makes that first big bank before you topple the market for everybody behind you. Once you do that you won. Also once you do that it's Bengals for new players left and right because you destroyed the economy and winned all the money of the universe. You can keep going but why bother. :effort:

The hilarious piece of that is all the gold farmers and ship black market types will only have a very brief blip of a window when their products are in high demand before players are just throwing ships around at each other like candy.

My lore is fuzzy but I thought ships purchased with in-game currency were gone after being destroyed while real money purchased ones were insured and therefore lasted forever. Wouldn't that be enough of a theoretical money sink, especially with how fast CiG patches any potential money leak, for slave tears or whatever their accepted currency is?

It's worth noting the newest ship made them half a million in two days but that's largely based on it's price of $225. The boils down to about 2200 purchases, which isn't really that many on a worldwide scale. Running the numbers CiG has hooked about 3 thousand broke brains who will buy pretty much anything they put out, and another 5 thousand softer sells that buy JPEGs that overlap with their needs.

The corollary isn't just pornography, it's niche fetish pornography. This is like furries paying hundreds for a half-assed fursona drawing or even creepier fetishes forking over thousands for whatever they're into. We're on a sliding scale between quality and fetishism and CiG went hard into fetishism.

You might remember me from such patches as 0.8, 2.6, 3.0 or 3.10. I'm the guy who kicks your rear end in a way you describe as "exploiting" and "cheesing".

Let me set things straight for the record. You lot have successfully managed to ostracize yourselves by continually seeking to make everyone else's experience terrible. The fact that you have successfully managed to create an echo chamber consisting of what? 50 players in as game with 2 million backers is not an indicator of success.

Additionally, I've just straight up been letting you guys dig this hole since 0.9.

I personally cannot wait until private matches are back. You dipshits will remove yourselves from the mainstream and go back to being the bush league scrubs I've always known you all to be.

The fact that you lot need to talon gank - and then take these victories seriously, is indicative of insecurity. Oh EvE vets be like "If its a fair fight you're doing it wrong" - but EvvE vets are not PvP vets, not in an FPS game. Nobody gives a gently caress how long you stared at MS Excel bro.

Seriuously, you guys trained evilOrg just because I told you to. We're well beyond the point where you guys have free will, I've hemmed you guys into a limiterd movespace where every possible reaction can be predicted by me.

Here's an idea, if you all want to be taken seriously, why don't you all get fkn gud? Your bronze league whining has not only become insufferable, but threatens to distort the game in order to cater to your tab targeting roots. Some of us can understand vector math and aim. The rest post here.

I don't mean to be harsh, it's just that in any serious PvP community, you pricks would be laughed off any forum.

Personally, I playewd BF2, 2142 and SupCom competitively, invariably hitting the top percentile globally. Complaints that this or that is OP are usually discarded once suitable counters are found. But yet you lot fly talons and complain about getting missiled. Welcome to the meta.

What's clear to the *actual* PvP community is that most of you are not only incapable of winning an even fight, but that the exhibition of double standards; and the use of exploits demonstrates conclusively that we live in a two tiered community. There's ignorant theory crafting leeads and then there's delusional gankers who worship their own dogfood.

https://imgur.com/a/zItNjV9

I wouldn't normally care in a Live scene, but in an alpha, this kinda bullshit kills the community. I'm better than all of you, but I can't be everywhere at once.

You guys are hilarious. This bush league bullshit will no longer stand.

"So what do you want, Anaryl?"

Here's your new marching orders.

You will all start seeding Squadron

You will unredact and consolidate

All combat activities in PU will cease until such a time as it is remotely viable again

Eviction of all players I deem unworthy of community protection

Revocation of all misinformation about combat (literally your entireframework) - I will provide a new one.

Suck my dick, I guess, you pecking order sheep

Experiment and extensively document the Hurricane

Can we not do the thing where you guys spend months denying that you're doing my will. Seven years guys, let's drop the pretense.

Do you pricks want to git gud, or do you want to keep LARPing on everyone that you have the remotest notion that you know what you're doing?
